I'm sure hooter shooters have their uses. A draw board is essentially a hooter shooter that doesn't shoot. I'll say this for the 4th time....a draw board makes setting up a bow easier, especially when one owns a shop and sets up a lot of bows. I didn't say they were necessary, I didn't say a bow couldn't be tuned without one. Just that it makes it easier and for the money it doesn't make sense for a shop not to have one.
I bought my winch and got the board and metal measuring stick. Just need to get it done. Not sure how I want to go about it. Have to check some threads out.

Hey DB, I have a draw board and use a pelouze scale and have a metal ruler mounted so as to check the draw length. My gt500 came in with the timing very close. I played with it and put it in perfect time. I noticed that some cams have 3 dots for timing but mine has 4 dots. I have it set between the first and second dot on the shallow side, not the deep side. I was surprised to find the bow exactly 1/2" long right out of the box. I ordered it at 29.5" and it came at 30". My draw length is 29.75" so it worked out just fine. I had to twist the string a few times to get it shortened to what I needed. I am getting around 320 fps grained out. I measured the draw length at full draw to the valley of the grip and added 1 3/4" for amo draw length. Is the draw length running long on most elites or did I have a fluke?

My GTO500 was pretty darn close to right on 28 1/2" draw.

HALFSTEP if you are measuring from full draw down to the deepest part of the grip and adding 1.75" then your draw will be long. Measure BH and transfer the mark to the sight window then measure and ad from that point.

What your saying is the brace heigth may be wrong from the start causing the DL to be long as well? Is this correct?

No I think what he is saying came out on another thread. Because of the geometry the line from full draw to the deepest part of the throat of the grip is not perpendicular to the arrow. The throat of the grip is below centre. Using pythagoras Theorem you could calculate the value along the arrow. Alternatively you can do what Crackers describes and tanser a mark up into the sight window and measure from there.

There was some discussion about exactly how much difference it makes...
