Thread: help with tuning

    Default help with tuning

True or False? When I aim the bow at the target and align the string and the pins at brace, shouldn't the arrow rest/arrow be aligned as well? I can't figure out how I can shoot bulls eyes yet have my nocked arrow pointing to the right. I made some adjustments with the rest (Limbdriver) and have it shooting bullet holes (center shot just past 7/8") however now my arrows hit 3 inches left at only 10 yds. My sight is already as far left as it can/should go. I had my wife check timing at full draw and cams appear to be in time. The bow has been pressed. Could it be a bent riser or something? Or twisted limbs? I can't figure it out...but need to soon. I don't want to give up on this bow (gt 500). Please help.

sounds like your torquing your bow..... try looking up your string at full draw.. everything should be in line.. if its not you have torque...

also did you try diff distances with the paper.. you may have contact but got lucky with the paper.. lots of us have been having contact issues... may need to do some trimming..

I'm certainly not immune to torquing the grip and I have been paper tuning at one distance however, I am consistantly hitting left when I align my string, rest and sight. Usually when I torque it's one or two arrows. Contact could be my problem i guess.

The majority of right handed shooters (myself included) will have the pins lined up on the right hand side of the string if you are lining up the string with your arrow rest. If your bow is in tune and shooting good groups you could either be torqing the bow, have a bent riser or if you are using an older sight you might just not have enough windage adjustment in the sight. Had a guy buy a new bow this past weekend and wanted to use his old sight, but the windage bar was just too short. Pulled a few different sights off the shelf for him to look at and every one had more than enough adjustment room. Not all accessories work on every bow. Just something else to look at.

When setting up my dad's bow, I lined up the arrow, rest, pins, and string. Just eyeballed like that, it shot great out to 50yds for me. When my dad shot it, he was grouping 9" left and 6" low. His anchor point was different and even though we're the same DL, it was totally different for us. I eventually moved his sight WAY left where it wasn't lined up with the string anymore and he started shooting great.

So depending on the person, they don't have to all line up.

I shoot right handed as well and that's what i can't figure out. when I line up the string and rest at brace my pins are clearly visible to the left which means when I draw and look through the peep my arrow is aiming to the right yet hits where my pins are aiming. How can I tell if it's a riser issue?

I had the same problem and it turned out to be contact with the limbdriver. I cut the ears way down and the problem was fixed. Sights, string and arrow line up now. Have you sprayed everything with foot powder to check for contact? Check the cables also and make sure your not hitting there.

My Gt500 is the same. Looking down the arrow at brace, the pins are to the left. My Mathews Legacy was the same way. The arrows hit the bull though so I don't dare question it any further. My brothers Iron Mace is the same way. Not sure why, It is what it is.

The reason for the sights being left of the string/arrow alignment is Archer's Paradox.
