There are times that I find a bull that wants to bugle back and forth and is looking for a good fight. This is definately the most fun that you will ever have!! But the majority of the time I bugle mainly to locate. Usually once I get a bull to start talking I can just cow call him the rest of the way in. There is definately nothing wrong with "blind" calling. Just dont over do it!!

Anybody else using tree stands or ground blinds over water. We have pretty good luck on dry yrs using this method. Try to keep the calling to a min. when sitting on water.

this year in going to try setting up a spike camp and hunting some more remote areas than i did last year. there was soooo much water last year i didnt even think about it. if i ever get drawn for AZ i might think about a ground blind but i prob would not use one.

I cut some major weight from the pack this year.
I got a sil tarp instead of tent, huge difference, probably only use if weather looks fair. I use a emergency tinfoil like cheap bivy, its great its roomy and adds warmth to the sleep bag.Instead of a pad Im using garbage bags packed with pine needles, I tried it when campin mem. day weekend, you can make a way more comfy pad than a little thermarest, and carry weight is minimal.
    Overall saving 4-5lbs
