the only thing on my string is a peep and loop, I dont plan on putting anything on at all for hunting either.

None on my GTO and probably won't put any on it either. Pretty quiet the way it is.

I will put some on my GTO for hunting season but I will put a quieter rest on first. Any minimal speed loss will be made up in silent delivery.
I think the string stop with a silent rest like the G5 Expert II will make it quiet enough.
DOA, Do you have any experience with the G5 rest? I was interested in that one?
I have two of them and absolutely swear by them. Dead silent and flawless in design. I can't say enough good things about it.
Do you tie them to the down cable or the cable slide?
I am shooting a lot of FOB's right now so I tie it to the down cable. You can do it either way as the launcher arm has a couple of attachment points you can use. Here is a ROUGH draft of part of an article I am writing about it:
EXPERT II DROP AWAY REST
It wasn’t that long ago that drop away rests were thought to be another gimmick that would never make a big impact on the archery industry. Even I (say it isn’t so) resisted trying them for the longest time. Well, I will be the first to admit that I was dead wrong with my initial assumptions. The fall away market has taken over the arrow rest industry and now comprises the majority of hunting rests sold today and I shoot them exclusively.
The Expert II rest upon initial inspection didn’t look overly impressive. It looks rather plain straight out of the package. There aren’t any hidden arms, weird springs or gigantic lifter arms. And that is what makes this rest so pleasing to my eye. Its lack of complicated gizmo’s and ease of set-up were a testers dream.
The rest I received for testing was covered in Realtree AP and contained all the necessary mounting accessories as well as two pull cords (blue and camo) and two different arrow holders. My initial inspection found the rest to be flawlessly assembled and seamlessly manufactured. I tried to find some type of flaw in its appearance and was sadly let down. I couldn’t even find a scratch.
While mounting the rest on my BowTech Guardian I found some very nice features that I think need mentioning. First is the cord attachment to the rest. Some rests on the market today require you to tie the cord creating an ugly knot at the end of the rest arm. G5 has taken this to a new level. There is a small screw that “pinches” the cord to the arm which is cosmetically pleasing compared to a big old nasty knot. The second is the attachment points. They have created two attachment points depending on use of the buss cable or cable slide for your cord anchor. This small detail makes a big difference in the torque placed on your draw cord while activating the rest. Proper position I believe will not only assist with smooth operation of the rest but extend the life of your cord. Once mounted, center shot was achieved by loosening a single nut and turning the launcher spool either clockwise or counter clockwise then re-tightening the screw. Elevation adjustments were made with the use of one screw also. This made set-up and tuning a breeze.
The first thing you will notice about the rest while shooting is the lack of noise. One of my pet peeves is the need to add mole skin or fleece to your arrow shelf so your drop arm doesn’t sound like a rifle shot when it hits the riser. G5 out did themselves in making this thing quiet. The arrow rest actually falls below the riser and every place where there is normally metal to metal contact is covered with some form of sound/vibration absorbing material. From 10 feet away I couldn’t hear the rest operating at all. Shooting the rest is like a dream come true. With it being easy to set-up, quiet and deadly accurate, what more could you ask for in a drop away rest?
