My dad made an El Camino out of a station wagon. Took a saws-all to it, stuffed some insulation in the holes. Wala...instant El Camino. True story. He was a constant tinkerer. Weed eater out of a fan motor and shovel handle was another classic. This isn't the hijack thread so I'll stop.
Sweet ride though.
Probably the earliest flyswatters were nothing more than some sort of striking surface attached to the end of a long stick.

Hahaha, that's classic.
We bought a 52 Chevy 2-door hardtop for $500 in high school and cut the top off. Same thing, stuffed some insulation in the holes and covered it with bondo. Painted the entire car with white Krylon spray paint
Put some lime green spinners on the wheels and drove the **** outta that car all summer.....'cept when it was raining. Lol
We sold that car later for $2000![]()

Update, spent 1/2 day tearing down front end and a bunch of chrome, my helpers were not really much help.

Otherwise it's been slow going, like any old car they can look great on the outside but when you dig into them you can find surprises. Bed floor ended up needing replacing and a couple other panels as well. I took off the rt quarter to access the inner panels that were rusted.

Putting it back together
Welded the quarter back on after painting inside, everything is welded now and I'm heading towards the filler stage.
Car had a bench seat originally and I'm switching to buckets and a console with floor shifter, here I'm mocking up the seats so I can weld the brackets in place.
