I figured for tuning, you would want your cams on the same parallel line!

You sync them to the cables so it dont matter where the string is being pulled from. I pull from the loop just like shooting it. but it still works if you pull so the bow stays even on the draw board. try it sometime. Check sync both ways. You will see its because the cams are slaved together. and doesnt matter.

Maybe, you are correct in saying the cams are synced together. Guy at the bow shop just explained the same thing to me as you just said. So I got my cams synced. The cables line up in the exact same dots on each cam and the draw stops hit at the same time too. Draw weight is pulling at 64 lbs which is normal for new strings. The draw length is off by a half inch. DL is 28 inches when it should be 28.5. I know the string is new but I don't see it streching enough to achieve 28.5 inch DL. Does anyone have any suggestions on my DL?
    Thanks

We drew the bow and we put an arrow that had the lengths on the arrow. The 28 inch mark on the arrow was lined up with front of the riser shelf. I have the #4mods on my bow which are 28.5. Oh and I have full let off. My draw stops are set all the way back for full let off. Everything feels right.

Here is the difference . You need to add 1.75" from throat of grip to measure/compare D.L., not the front of the shelf. So if the cam is supposed to do 28.5" and your measurement is 28" at the shelf, then you´re probably around 28.5" AMO since [almost no modern compound] has a shelf that extends 1.75" past the pivot point (deepest part of grip).

True D.L. should be the standard instead of AMO IMHO, each and every bow would be easily comparable if we would measure from pivot point ...

Ok then that makes better sense. Although the shelf doesn't extend out that far, the added 1.75 would make it 28.5. So where did the 1.75 length come from? Is it the same number for all bows or just elites? Also where exactly is the throat of the grip? Middle center line? Or where the palm of your hand contacts the grip?
Thanks again. I enjoy this and learn something new with bows everyday.

    Same for all bows.

The throat is the deepest part (farthest away from the string) of the back of the grip, where your hand touches. For example, I have a measuring stick on my draw board. I set it up so that there is 1.75" in front of the throat of the grip. In other words, where the grip is held by the draw board, I have my measuring stick sticking out another 1.75" in beyond that point. That way when I use my board, I always have an accurate measurement. If it says 29" on my board, it's really 29".

    What he sayed.
AMO standard is same for all bows, pivot point measurement plus 1.75". It is an old fashioned way IMHO, it has plenty of room for archers to fall into confusion and for some manufacturers to cheat on the speed (strong selling point for some) of their bows.
