Default New to Elite and had some ????

    Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and hope to be a new Elite bow owner. I am considering purchasing either a Elite Pure or Tour for the first time and just had some questions.

All I have ever shot has been Hoyt and Mathews and pretty much know them inside and out. I have recently been looking for another asa bow for next year and really like the specs on both of these bows and have heard good reviews on them.

First question is how are these bows for tunability? Are they very picky on nock travel or center shot? Do they prefer a stiffer or weaker arrow or stick pretty close to spec? How about keeping them intime once you set them? The only other thing that worries me is not having a yoke to control cam lean... Is the cam lean really an issue with these bows?

I like the idea of the hard back wall and being able to fine tune the draw stops, but I never have owned a Elite so would like to get some opinions on their shootability.

Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance,
    Glen

Some great tuners on here man. Somebody will chime in I'm sure. If need be ask bearfoot, Yeti Archery, Twisted Archer, Maybee-R.......or even Ltrain.....yes I through in Train because he's been a little depressed lately after his "life partner" dumped him....so he might like the conversation

I'm no "super" tuner or even a tuner for that matter but both of my Elites are from 2008. I have shot the piss out of them and they are still tuned perfectly. IMO cam lean has been blown way out of proportion on the Internet.

You two called it quits? Sorry to here that. I always thought Ltrain could do better.
Probably the earliest flyswatters were nothing more than some sort of striking surface attached to the end of a long stick.

glen,, welcome to Elite forum,,,, Elites are great bows and have engineer to have some cam lean yes,, a problem to some in the past because elte used to use what they call a 3 track system, but now sing a 2 track system, elite bows are a lot better with almost zero cam lean... As far as tuning, I generally use a hooter shooter when I set up my bows now which helps with watching cam timing, general dare length as well as having appropriate arrow flight and awesome grouping.... Most serious tuners will have a draw board on hand to check all their specs from time to time,,, I just our hooter shooter and cheat some... I personally love the new Eitetour if your an indoor spot shooter or maybe an answer for the guys who lives both speed and smoothness....ant a dog in elites bunch IMHO',, just have to go shootem

Until a couple months ago (when I broke down and bought a Judge) all my Elites were 2008 or earlier. Limb twist (cams do not lean) is a non issue much blown out of proportion. I have owned other brand new bows and none shoot better or faster than the older Elites. They are easy to tune stay in tune and shoot as accurate as the shooter.
The Envy is still the fastest bow Elite has ever made, no IBO crap, real life speeds with loaded string, and with a 7" brace/ Faster than the GTO (four of five are at least) the Judge, Pulse, Answer, a few come close but none are faster. Ask Jamie or Bad007 about the Envys speed. The GTO is the best looking riser Elite has made, The SynXT the best all round bow, and the GT500 and Z28 (2008.5 are the best of course) are the only models Elite made three years and for a reason. The Hunter to me is a Z clone as well.
This is not to say the new Elites are not good bows, but time will tell which ones shake out to be great bows. I will wait and see and pick one up cheap with a new bow warranty when the hype fades and fact stand.

Excuse an old fart for rambling late at night.

Thanks for all the replies! I to own a shooting machine. Mine is custom built and is run off of ACME thread so I can tell the draw down to a 1/32". When I shot Hoyt I always used it for cam timing and such. A lot better than drawing back and looking in the mirror. lol

Well I guess I'm just going to have to wait now for my friend to come back from vacation and we will take a drive to the closest Elite dealer and give them a shot!

Thanks for the help again guys,
    Glen
