Default Bow sounds awful, need help

I have a 2010 Z28. So, I decided to remove both monkey tails and kiss button, due to the recommendation of many. I was told the bow was quiet without all that stuff and slower. Ok so I decided to remove it all and give it a try. Now my bow sounds like an out of tune banjo. The string sounds awful. It just sounds like so much like a horribly tuned banjo/guitar string. CLANK, CLANK as it vibrates. Not sure if something is wrong with the bow or the string is worn out. But I dont ever remember it sounding like this when the bow was newer and I didnt have that noise suppression stuff on there. Im gonna tighten down everything just to make sure, but I definitely know its coming from my string. Its so loud and awful.

To gain an extra 5 fps isnt worth it, to have my bow sound the way it does. I wonder if something else is causing it.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

So I put the monkey tails back on my string and wow what a difference. It quiets the string ten fold. If any of you out there have a bare string and your string is quiet, I applaud you. I dont know how you did it, but my string definitely needs the monkey tails or something to keep it quiet.

Does anyone else notice such a big difference with something on their string? And how bad does it sound without something?

I have the same bow at 29/70 with nothing on the string to dampen except speed nocks and it is far from loud. I do have bowjaxs on the limbs and one on the cable slide and string stop however. I would make sure the mods are not loose, the stab is not loose, the cable slide is not loose and the string stop is not loose. Also, check the sight to make sure it is not loose as well. It should not be that loud.

Oh, another thing make sure the sting is not hitting the string stop. Should have about a credit cards width between the string and rubber stopper. Maybe a bent axle or cam also.

Ok I have tightened everything down and still the same sound. Cams look fine. I have the limbsavers on the limbs and the bowjax on the cable slide. One thing I found that was causing more noise was the flatter style string stop, as opposed to the round older string stop. I put the round one back on and it definitely does a better job at silencing the string. The new style has that little rubber grommet inside and for what ever reason, the whole thing is louder, at least on my bow.

So getting back to my string noise. If I pull it back like a half inch and let go, it just makes so much noise, from the vibration, like a guitar string. Of course when I do the same thing with my monkey tails on, it doesnt make that nasty noise. But I definitely helped the situation by going back to the older round string stop.

Ive also started to think, maybe over time the string just gets a little dried out, and that I need to wax them a little more. Wax may help deaden the string sound. I definitely know the noise is coming from the string. Just cant pinpoint why.

Some peoples tolerance for noise is different than others. My bro thinks his bow is quiet w/o anything on the string. I think it sounds like a train wreck. It's timed perfect as well. With both have '09 z28s and I believe mine is way more quiet than his with string savers on the string. The Z is not the quietest bow out there, but it's pretty darn quiet when outfitted right.
Probably the earliest flyswatters were nothing more than some sort of striking surface attached to the end of a long stick.

I know when I first joined the forum people where talking about noise from the string stop , people told them to fill the string stop hole with bits of cut up rubber before putting string stop back on . People that tryed it said it helped alot .

Does anyone know why the newer style string stop has that rubber grommet in it? Why didnt they make the hole like the round string stop where it doesnt need the rubber insert. Anyway, without the monkey tails the string vibrates more and makes more noise. With the monkey tails its pretty quiet. More quiet than my neighbors hoyt crx, with Monkey Tails. And louder than my neighbors crx without them.

I will definitely keep the MT's on or at least something.

I may mess with the newer style String Stop and put the rubber pieces in it, but not sure how that will turn out or if it will be any more quiet than the round one.

My Z28 is pretty quiet without string dampeners but definitely quieter with them.
