    Default I love Elite, BUT...

I really liked my Pulse, after some tweaking, tuning, and a few aftermarket additions it was a sweet shooter. Now with my Answer I know it needs a twist here and there, some aftermarket strings cables, in and out of the press and draw board multiple times to get it just so. BUT WHY? Why do we buy brand new bows and have to tweak, tune, and add higher quality aftermarket strings/cables and other accessories to achieve the advertised performance out of today's bows. I'm not talking getting just advertised speed here, but a lot of the time we have to do all this on a new bow, just to get it to shoot decent. I am not singling out Elite on this, ALL bow manufacturers are guilty of this. It's not realistic to expect the average archer or even hardcore hunter to have all the necessary tools for tuning these bows. Draw board, press that is approved by manufacture(good luck, they change that monthly), knowledge of timing, sync, cam lean. We can't rely on dealers because the manufacturers do a horrible job of screening them.

Most dealers have no idea what cam lean is, how to fix it. Most have no draw board, and still will tell you cam draw stop timing and cam sync is dead on because it comes from the factory that way. Why do we keep paying big bucks for bows that need even more money and time put into them to shoot right? Yes this is a rant, but imo opinion a **** justifiable one. It would be nice to see manufacturers either produce bows that are in tune and shooting lasers out of the box. If they can't accomplish this, how about screening dealers so the ones you have actually know how to tune a bow?

Alot of us are buying into the hype of extra work being needed then what is actually needed.
Look at cam lean for one. All bows have it. couple exceptions would be true shoot through designs but almost every manufacture has it.

Another is split yoke harnesses. Finicky and hard to keep in tune. Yes I said it. hard to keep in tune. Slaved cams are easy to set and forget.
Most of the bows I have gotten in this year have been better from Elite then any of the other brands.

I agree it would be nice to have all manufactures on the same table with out of the box bows. But I for one would still make changes to suit my wants and needs.
No ifs and or buts Just maybee.

I haven't had one brand new bow that I didn't want to change the string and cables out...So Bows need Tuning and women need flowers...I believe they leave the factory in spec and cams snyc, after the bow settles thing need to be re-tuned maybe...but its apart of the sport...

I used to fall into this exact same scenario. No Longer. My last 3 bows , an Elite GT500, Pure and currently an Answer I have left the factory strings and cables on and guess what? They shot just fine. 0 issues, no problems. I own a $49.00 bowmaster press I bought 10 years ago to take with me on hunting outings just in case and that works just fine as well. My draw board consists of a heavy duty dowel screwed into my work bench and I can check my timing and cam stops just fine with that and a old boat trailer winch I picked up fro $5.00 . I have used that combination a total of 3 times only when I recieved the bows (brand new) to double check from the factory and all 3 times all 3 bows were right on. Sometimes I think we have become our own worst enemy and tinker too much. Just my .02

I don't disagree with Rutnstrut on the topic. My thoughts have always been that the more technology we see in today's modern compounds , the more need to make adjustments. Things move bc of the stress placed on components. 30 years ago who would have thought we'd have 340+ IBO bows.
The manufacturers do the best they can,I'm sure. They try to beat the clock and keep US supplied with what WE want as fast as WE want it. Probably a lot of the issues bow manufacturers face are bc the new stuff was brought to market before complete development and testing took place. The situation is simply bc it had to get to market when WE wanted it.

I love my elites. I have been shooting for nearly 20 years and I enjoy archery more now than ever. I shot mathews for years and shot them well. I decided I wanted to try something different and I can honestly say, I had never shot a truly "smooth" bow until I picked up an elite. You are going to have to spec everything from time to time, but that is with any bow. A good friend just bought a heliM, got it home and called me over to shoot it. Had it cranked all the way down(70lb bow). Draw was easy and I thought it was nice until we put it on a scale and it was maxing at 67lbs. Things like this happen with every manufacture on occassion. Like stated before things get rushed because the public wants everything right now, but it's across the board. Elite seems to be a great company with a great product. That's all I can ask for....

Elite is getting what they are posting from the factory strings so there should be no reason why you can't, they will need to be tweeked once they are broken in but that just happens. Quality of factory strings vary from company to company but if you asked everyone on here you would have 30+ different answers on which maker would be the best so you really can't make everyone happy, and if they did go with whoever was picked as the best the bow would cost that much more and if you didn't like the quality or colors you would still more than likely replace them so you would be out even more money.

What I think should be done is maybe have a high end bow build that could be bought in a custom only shop.. Maybe pay a little more for these bows, but have them available for us high end kinda guys who have to have it done right out of the box for competition or just flat out high rollers type guys who want nothing less then the best. That way elite can still offer bows that are mild but also offer up a custom shop where wild is available at a price.... Just don charge us too much , not everyone can afford a Ferrari...

I pretty much knew this was going to be taken as a bash on Elite, it's not though. I am talking all manufacturers, I will say the Elite strings/cables are some of the worst I have seen for serving separation since I shot Mathews. I guess I am in the minority anymore by expecting a product to actually work like it's suppose to.
