I've never eaten one - always figured anything with feet like a rat would taste like a rat. I hear they're good though, maybe I'll have to try one here soon.

Young ones are mighty tasty. They do have a musky smell that I dont like when cleaning them, but the meat dont have that taste in it. I have always cooked them up in some bacon grease for breakfast.

Purple squirrel.....lol. My wife likes it, so does my girlfriend

So anyway, fried squirrel (if their youngins) and gravy is excellent......followed closely by squirrel and dumplins (great for older squirrels...the ones with big nuts).......and squirrel pot pie is great too. It's all members of the food groups in one steamy pile artery clogging goodness

All this squirrel talk is making me hungry... We've got a short half month season open for squirrel right now in Virginia and ive got squirrels everywhere. Im gonna try to pop a half dozen and see what I can create in the kitchen...they all look small to me (greys) but if they're the best eatin, Im going for head shots with the .22 or pellet gun. Ive seen a couple chipmunks too.

My dad made the best squirrel gravy with big ol cat head biscuits. Fried isn't bad either, I like mine cajun'ed up. My buddy can cook them like popcorn chicken and they are UHM,UHM!

I had racoon at a wild game dinner a couple of years ago and surprisingly it was good, a little greasy though.
