Thread: Elite Answer bottom cam lean

Default Elite Answer bottom cam lean

I noticed on my Elite Answer at full draw I have quite a bit of cam lean on my bottom cam. My top cam has some but nothing to much. Is this normal? My closest Elite Dealer is over 2 hours away. Has anyone else come across this issue? Any help would be great.

Nope its not. Have your dealer look it over. Some is alright but if its wearing on the string or cables then have it checked out. IMO!

Maybee do you have any suggestions on how to correct this? I am new to working on my own bows. I also emailed Elite twice asking them this very question and they have yet to get back to me. Is it as simple as twisting and untwisting some cable string? Or do I need to shim etc.... Hope you can help or if anyone can help.

Depends on how much you have. Usually if its leaning its as simple as shimming the cam over slightly. Even 0.010 is enough to make changes in how the load from cables twists the limb. How is it a rest?
Also If your not seeing wear on the cables or string it might not be too bad. I know sometimes you can torque the bow at full draw and think its lean. If all that isnt the case then I would measure the shims on it. then add to the cable side and take out the same amount on the string side. Doing this will change center shot ever so slightly also. Sometimes correcting it because of too much lean.
Elite will get back to you, they might be really busy.
If you need a faster response pm me. I dont look here as much as I used to. or as I should.
No ifs and or buts Just maybee.

How can you tell if your cams are leaning?

At full draw I can see the cams leaning to the right slightly. I took it to my proshop and they told me since Elite uses a binary cam systems and the way the cables pull on the cams there will always be a little lean to them.

If you end up sending the bow in to Elite to have your limb finish addressed; they will time and sync the bow too. At least they did on mine. I had the strings and cables replaced too for no charge. Great CS.
