Short brace hieght Vs. Long brace hieght

Well here is my 2 cents on the matter. I don't care if it is a 5" BH vs a 8" BH, out of a Hooter Shooter you will see zero difference. Can a short BH bow be shot as accurate as a long BH bow? Absolutely, can I do it......nope! As soon as I get under 6.5" my groups open up at longer ranges, heck even at 20yds shooting a Vegas face they do. Hence the reason I chase an elusive 300 on a Vegas Face with my hunting rigs. They normally sit between 7.25" and 6.5" BH with a light burner arrow and I always seem to slip up with my form on a shot or two. Last 6" BH bow I had I think my top Vegas score was a 293, compared to a 298 GT500, and a 299 with the Answer and I haven't shot my new bow for a score to know where it falls yet. I think the main reason I suffer under 6.5" is because of my DL(30.25") there is a heck of a lot less margin for error than an archer with 27"DL. JMO


As for recommendations they are just that.....try em all experiment find what works best for YOU. If someone asks for mine from my experience and trials I would advise 6.5 and above. Is that wrong or bad advice? Nope, just my honest opinion.

Smash,I think the person that posted this is wanting feedback as to whether or not he will shoot better (more forgiveness) with a 6" or a longer BH 7",8". You are right that set up in a vise they will be the same but I don't think that is why he is asking but who knows I may be wrong or reading into it.

See, thats where we differ! Being honest, which means I have no idea what is best for the person. When it comes to being honest, sometimes ya have to leave your opinion out of it!!! If I would have listened to opinions, I would be stuck shooting a bow I don't like, because I can't shoot it well!

If I spouted off my opinion everytime somebody doesn't do as I say, or I don't agree with, I would be banned or in prison.

I have been in sales, self employed, for 29 years. I have turned down sales, in a roundabout way, in excess of 10 grand. How? I asked people to make the right decision, and buy the right product. Not what I thought was best, but what they wanted. Guess what???? It has come back tenfold for me, with repeated sales because I was honest, not because I pushed my opinion on them, they respected my integrity.

So, say ya talk somebody into a bow they don't like. Now they give up on archery. All because one is better than the other, in your opinion! At least you feel better about yourself. Way to go!

I have been helping many with there choices for many years in archery. Have yet had anyone come say I gave them bad info. In the end I give them an opinion from experiences. There no telling how many bows I have sold for dealers in my lifetime. Im fine with giving folks help. Built a good reputation here and other forums. There a good reason dealers and manufactuers sale more 7" brace heigth bows. Z28 maybe the best all time seller for Elite for good reasons.
