Anyone have one and if so, how you like it? I just purchased a barrel for my Encore and have a Burris 3x9x40 B-Plex scope I'm gonna put on top. Plan on shooting Federal Fusion ammo out of it.

Not sure how much of a difference there is in rounds, but I have a 338 win mag and it has enough power to knock down an elephant! No problems with accuracy out to 200 yds. I shoot the ballistic tip federals.
338 Federal is a necked up 308. Shouldn't have the recoil as yours, I hope! :-) All my rifles blow the crap out of the critters I shoot, hoping this round doesn't!

Remember quite a bit of hype on this round a year or two ago. A good freind set up a bolt gun in it. Shot nice and grouped very well with the ammo which I believe was the Hornady. The set up was shooting was pretty light so I prefered my 7mm-08 over it, but that's a personal prefernce on two different bolt actions not an Encore. On the TC platform it should make a very good shooter.
I have a custom built 338-06 bolt gun and I love it. Brush gun for deer...medium/long range on anything up to elk and moose is no problem either as it's a flat shooting round.

Theoretically it should of been a popular round for deer and bear hunters who hunt brush, but I guess people are stuck on their "old reliables". The numbers on paper are awesome for deer, bear and elk. Oh well, we'll give her a whirl!

Excited, scope is scheduled to arrive today for the 338! My only problem is finding ammo, no one in this area has any. Guess I might as well buy the dies to load my own.

Can honestly say I was impressed with the 338 Fed.! I didn't think such a large bullet would be a tack driver at 200 yards but this puppy was cutting holes! And to top if off it was with factory loads, can't wait to see what it does with reloads! Also can't wait to see what it's gonna do to a Texas panhandle buck in November!!
