I call and talk to Dick in the tech department once or twice a month just to ask if the material options have changed to protect my customers warranty and until recently it has always been no, anyone can come on here and post that 8190, 8125 or the Brownell equivalent has been given the OK but until Elite actually comes out and posts it you should always call and ask just to cover your own butt as there are string makers out there that don't even know that 452X was the only material that didn't void a Elite warranty. I guess Elite is still testing materials so when they are done hopefully they will post a sticky that states what string materials can be used, what the strand count is and what serving materials must be used. You have to remember just because you read it somewhere on the internet does not mean that it is actually true.
I like to think I have more sense than that. However, there are people on these forums to whom I value their opinion.

Well excuse me for asking. But if any company intends to stay competitive in this day and age. They need to staying top of new technology and keep the consumer informed in a timely manner. Here it is almost June and Elite doesn't even have their online store up to date.

Your excused, if you think Elite isn't checking out 8190 you really need to get out more. The 8190 may look nicer in the long run but from what has been posted on this thread and from what I have been hearing from other string makers and Elite the 26 strands of 8190 is about the same speed and the 24 strands of 452X and so far those are the strand counts that are being tested as it sounds like they are going more for diameter than actual strands and it looks like that's what it may end up being to keep from voiding the warranty so it's a wash.

As far as the e-gear store goes maybe the are just selling out faster than they thought they would but hey let's have them stop all bow production so they can get all the whiners off their back about the shirts, stickers and other stuff that must be oh so much more important than making and selling bows. If you really want something that bad maybe and here again just pick up the phone and call to see if they have it, I just checked and the e-gear store is up and running but sometimes stores just run out and you have to wait for your supplier to send more stuff. I have wanted stuff from the store and they were out but the last thing you will see me do is pitch a fit about it, when they get it in stock I will get it if I still need it but I can always try and find it somewhere else if I really have to have whatever it is that I am looking for. You don't hear this much crying at a toys r us filled with a bunch of spoiled 3 year old's.

If so many of the string makers know that using different strings will not hurt the bow, then why is it such an issue with Elite? I guess if the strings and cable hold together and the bow fires just fine, then I dont get it. As long as you dont dry fire the bow, everything should work just fine.

Well....string makers arn't the engineers of the bow. The big shots at Elite just want to run the strings through their paces before putting the stamp on it. If they make a mistake it could cost them plenty of money in warranty claims.

I will go out on a limb and say you can put any string material you want on the bow. If it causes the problem your needing warranty for though your up s^^^t creek with out a paddle. And they will be more then likely able to tell if it cause the issue.
I talked to Elite about the material thing and their main concern is how its installed along with strand count and diameter size.
I been using the 8190 for a couple weeks and like the colors. But thats about all I can honestly comment about. time will tell the rest for me.
No ifs and or buts Just maybee.
