    Default Jake mobile

I had 2 group of 3 toms, could have been the same birds, come in today. they came out of the timber about 60yds from my girlfriend and I but seemed very stand offish. I did get them to come with in 24 yds "i should have smoked one but was trying to get the gf first turkey but she had no shot."but I have noticed when i use my jake mobile and have it in full strut with real jake tail feathers birds are almost intimidated by it but if i put the tail feathers down they have no problem committing to the decoys. Anyone else notice this or is it me? I always have the jake facing me or quartered to me. any other tips or advise? oh and yes i am regretting not shooting today lol

That it is! I hope to get my first turkey with a bow using some of the techniques. Too bad PA spring turkey doesn't open until the 28th!

Here in New York we have to wait until the opener on 1 May. I'm kinda concerned its going to be a fairly short season because of all of the early spring weather. The undergrowth and fields are already in mid May form and usually by the end of the May season it becomes very difficult due to high grass and thick undergrowth. I am taking out a first time turkey bowhunter on opening day, a soldier from Fort Drum I met in archery league this winter .... oughta be a blast. Good luck to everyone.

I'd look at buying a more realistic decoy. IMHO, bowhunting turkeys requires realistic decoys. When they come in close, details matter.
