Mark an arrow for the needed dl and draw in front of a mirror or have a buddy look at it.
I have never in my life set my now up using a draw board![]()

Draw boards are useful for so many reasons, you should build one. You can make a cheap one for about $25 ($35 with scale). All you need is a 2X8 about 6 feet long, a pipe fitting with the type end that is flanged with screw holes and a cheap boat wench. Harbor Freight sells the boat wench and Lowes or Home Depot has the other things. Get a digital scale, it will add about $10. I have used many scales and my latest I like the best and got on Ebay for $9.95 which included shipping.
So, for $35 you will have a draw board that will allow you to:
1. Spec strings under 100lbs tension (single most over looked item in tuning a bow)
2, set let off and check draw weight of your bow.
3, precisely set arrow rest to rise in last couple inches of draw
4. check timing and synch of cams
5, set draw length
For another 20 dollars you can make a cheap pipe clamp press and then you can do anything but remove the limbs.
Check DYI on AT. The scale is available on Ebay at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...E:L:OC:US:3160
I like this one because it goes up to 110lbs so you can spec your string set. Most only go to 80lbs.

PS - the cost will be recovered the first trip to the archery shop you make. Download Nuts&Bolts tuning guide on AT, about 150 pages and free, and shortly you will tune better than most shops.

thank you i will check it out
the draw board is great to move draw stops and check timing. But when it comes to setting draw length, the draw board can give you false lengths. Thats because you can over or under draw the bow because of the power of the winch. I usually check by either drawing the bow with a measuring arrow and have a my wife look at it or I use a chain that is hung from the ceiling in my garage and pull it down to where I feel the stops hit like if I were drawing the bow. Then I look on the measuring arrow. Hope this helps.

I know how easy it is to build a draw board....I know how cheap it is....I also know how easy it is to build.
I also know how to do all the things you mentioned without using a draw board. For my personal needs I do not need one.
Of all the things you mentioned for my use the only thing I would use it for would be to check my dl.
