What do your local shoots pay for 1st,2nd and 3rd place?A certain percentage or is it a set payment like 15.00,10.00 and 5.00?

    Thanks for any input.

Your choice 17'' trophy for 1st or free shoot or T-shirt , 2nd place 10'' trophy , 3rd place 10'' trophy. We still only charge $10.00 dollars an adult for a 40 target shoot upkeep of a 30 range acre range isn't cheap gas alone to keep it mowed runs $200.00 a month + the upkeep of the tractor and riding mowers , target centers insurance , light bill , concessions , etc. Cash prizes aren't feasible for a $10.00 entry fee if folks wanted to pay $25.00 per adult and 10 for kids under 12 it would be maybe . But then that would be $70 - $100.00 for a family of 4 instead of $20.00 - $40.00 for 40 targets. I think most would prefer the second scenario. Our club has been around since 1964 and draws the most shooters per month than any other local club in our area in fact we have shooters come from 2 other states each month besides drawing shooters from 150 - 250 miles away each shoot. We have over 100 Rineharts and have no difficulty getting 120 - 200+ shooters at every shoot. We use Rineharts because that is what our members want and we are run by our members not by competition shooters who if they quit coming would only take away maybe $80-100.00 of our weekends proceeds. I know you didn't ask for all this info but I wanted to explain why cash prizes aren't part of a local clubs program in my neck of the woods. OMA

Thanks for the replies. Most of the small clubs around here paid 15.00, 10.00 and 5.00 if there was enough shooters. This year I think someone messed up when they printed the schedules. They have the clubs paying 30% for each class.Hunter class last weekend paid out over a 100.00 dollars.First place along paid 64.00 dollars.I thought this was crazy. That is to much for these small clubs to have to pay out with the price of everything these days.I happened to place in one of the classes and took out my shoot and food expence and donated the rest back to the club.I told them all that was going to happen is people are going to drop back classes and the pencil pushers are going to show up.I suggested that they needed a move up list.If you win 3 times or place 5 times in a season you move to the next class. What are your thoughts on the payout amount and the move up list.thanks

We do an Egg shoot for a dollar a shot & give a meat prize if you hit the egg. We also give the top shooter a free shoot or a meat prize. (their choice) For 10 dollars a shooter you can't give much & still keep the range up. We spent 3000 dollars for new mid sections last year for all the targets.

I think most clubs got away from this because of people pushing the pencil to much. for a regular local shoot, I wouldn't expect anything given out. If you are paying out for places, then you would have to be more organized and structured to handle it. Things like starting times, double score cards etc., breaking up groups

Otherwise you will have a bunch of cheating.

In Central KY, most clubs pay back 40% $$, split between 1st, 2nd and 3rd depending upon how many shooters were in the class.

Wow we are thinking for our 2 day shoot about adding adivision for a payout but other than that you get a wood plaque with the shoot name and place for top 3. But then again just like everything else us bumkins are way behind out here in montana.
