    Default Slider or fixed pin

I have been going back and forth on this issue using my HHA slider or the 5 pin fixed sight for my Pulse. The Pulse is strictly a hunting rig. This season I got busted when changing my slider to 40 yards from 20 but I like the fact that I can set the pin at 25 and not having to go in between the pins.

On the other hand I do like the fact that there is less movement not having to set the yarded with a fixed pin sight. One idea I had was to set my set pins at 20,25,30 etc and only go out to 40 since I probably wont shoot past 40.

    Thoughts???

If your not shooting past 40 yards I don't think a slider is the right choice. Keep it simple stick with the pins.

I use a slider on my pulse for hunting. I lock it on the 30yrd mark and shoot it at 20 and 40 yards and learn the difference in impact. Then i just hunt with it lock on 30yrds and know where to aim. That being said, my setup is 70# 30dl 350grain arrow (with Tip). With loaded string im hitting 332fps, at 20 yards i hit 1 1/2 inches high, at 40 yards im 5 inches low. Now this works for me because i constantly practice with this setup . It wont be for everyone. My issue with multi pins is that i feel that they cover to much of me sight window and don't allow me to focus on the shot.

The only time I shot out to 40 yds I put up the range finder 1st. That took more time & movement then sliding my pin or moving to get in position. I can see much better w/ the sight being open. I think 5 yd increments might be a blur. Their are some sliders with multi-pins .

I'm out on sliders, sometimes the 3 seconds it takes change the sight might cost you a shot

If you weren't hunting with a beer in your hand it would be easier/quicker to adjust your slider. Setting your beer down then adjusting your slider in 3 seconds is pretty good though.

I think I am going with 5 pin sights on both the Hunter and the Pulse, the slider will go on the GT500 since I don't use that very often.

Yep like I said in my original post I got busted moving my arm to adjust the pin and off she ran snorting and waving her tail at me.

I used to shoot fixed pins but after trying a slider I can't go back...too much going on.

Taking into consideration the fact that I ALSO have to get the truck stopped, turn down the radio, put down the beer, roll the window down and set the slider.......I'd say 3 seconds is pretty darned good too
