You may also want to have a look at the Tradtech line up of take down recurves with the ILF risers and limbs. They are an excellent shooting bow and IMO are a lot better then the Samicks. If and thats a big if I ever give up my Bear Super Kodiak, the Tradtech would be my next choice.
The ILF limbs and risers are interchangable and offer you quite a variance in styles of bows you can shoot such as recurve or longbow limbs utilizing the same riser.
Have a look at AT, Stick and String and Tradtalk forums as you maybe able to pick a good used one in your price range.
I will do that and thanks for the info. I've got a few weeks to decide on what bow I want and the Tradtech line sounds interesting. Do they have a web site?

    Remmy,
    Here's the link to Tradtech's website. http://www.tradtecharchery.com/
The 15" Black Onyx is my favorite riser and I've shot a few of the Tradtech bows and have liked every one of them. They are well made bows and shoot nice.

They do have some fine looking bows but the prices I've seen are three times what a Sage cost. Right now I just want one to have some fun on "next day" shoots and from all indications the Sage shoots as well as some of the top priced bows. But, having said that, I'll keep my eye out for a used one.......

Funny you mention this Remmy. I have been looking and strongly considering getting back in to traditional archery.

If Elite made one I'd be taking a serious look at one of theirs.....but since they don't, Jamie got me to look into the Samick bows and they seem to be the best thing going for the price.......quality bow, with shooting capabilities that match the top priced bows in alot of cases. Can't beat that for what I want and need right now. Later on, I might step up to a more expensive bow but the Sage by Samick is my choice. Thanks for the info Jamie!

Picked up a Gamemaster II last summer, and it's been fun to shoot. Hoping to get a little better this year so I can take it hunting. One of my favorite things about shooting it is listening to the twang of the string after the shot.

I didn't read the responses, so I apologize if this has been covered...but STAY AWAY from the Martin Jaguar. I had multiple bows, all w/limb issues, resulting in the last one snapping in half on day 3. Surprisingly, after all the good things I'd heard about Martin customer service I was surprised that I basically got blown off. That was my first, and unfortunately will be my last ever Martin experience.

Good luck...I took the plunge about 2 years ago and it's a blast...an aggravating blast...but a blast none the less.
