Default Black Gold Ascent vs HHA (Single pin debate)

Almost got my choices narrowed down between a black gold ascent with 6'' dovetail, or a hha with the wheel. Havent decided which exactly I want yet, as both seem to have advantages and disadvantages. Unfortunately for the black gold, it doesnt accept a lense unless you buy the new target version and supply your own 10/32 scope for it. HHA doesnt have 3rd axis or a dovetail mount feature..

Which one would you pick, or is there another single pin, at below or around $200, that you would pick. I plan on hunting with it so I dont think a full blown target sight would work the best for me.

Have you checked out the Sword Centurion? A little on the heavy side, but I love mine. I think it was $165 including the light.

I have the Ascent and love it. No complaints, whatsoever. I've tried the HHA's, but the lack of a 3rd axis adjustment wouldn't work for me.

I have the MBG Ascent right now and I used to have the HHA DS-5519. The HHA sight was noticeably heavier than the Ascent and it had a lot less vertical adjustment as well. The HHA can also get in the way of your quiver. I also like the pin dimming shell on the Black Gold sight a lot better. IMO the Ascent is much better than the HHA.

I also wanted to add that with the HHA, I could only get the sight to adjust out to 55 yards before it ran out of adjustment. With the Black Gold I can reach out to 100 yards.

thats the reviews i like to hear. You dont see many pictures of the normal ascent head so I wasnt sure if it had alot of adjustment or not. I wont shoot past 40-45 hunting, but we like to step back to 100 sometimes to test our luck at a target. Most the ascents ive seen recently have the vengeance head on it, but I like the up pin better

If you mostly hunt, consider the slider instead of wheel. You'll save a lot of money & I think it's easier. I have a few of the ol5519's and even though I don't shoot to 100 yds I've played at 80 and had no problem with getting that much adjustment and ready for a lens kit is an added bonus.

You will get alot of different opinions. I tried an Ascent last year and mine was a POS. It rattled on every shot and the light would vibrate loose on a regular basis. The premise on which it was designed is good but I didn't care for it. I sold it and opted for a CBE Tek Hunter which is a much better sight. I still have 3 or 4 HHA OL5519 sliders and like them better too.

Could get the best of both worlds with the ascent mount/body and hha housing

I have both and they both work great hha Can get out to 80 yards and mbg can get to 100tards on my set ups. with hha tight spot makes a bracket for quivers that is awesome. Both sights are great to use!
