I have a xlr, but just picked up a pro elite for a target bow. Was looking at the tour for a while though.

I have a Tour and have had a couple XLR's.
The Tour is easier to draw pound for pound, I think the Tour holds better, and for me the Tour is more accurate and more forgiving.
Dont get me wrong, the XLR is a great bow!
In fact my Ninja 2009 XLR I had, I swore was the best bow I had shot and would NEVER sell it!
Well, I sold it and to be honest have no regrets because the Tour is just that good!
There are shots with this Tour of mine where upon release I will just know it didnt feel "right", that I just didnt have the release right, or just knew that arrow didnt quite go where I wanted it to go.
But, when I get to the target Im surprised to find it wasnt as bad as I would have thought! Where as with other bows I have owned that arrow would have been off the mark further.

I beileve that limb pockets are slightly different also, with the "fins" longer (I believe that it will help with limb to riser alignment when using poundage around the lower part of the available range)

The XLR was a very good bow, mine was a 28dl with Cuda cams. I had all kinds of issues with tuning, shims, swapped limbs. It shot very well but I just felt there was more in it and I could not find it. I know how to tune binaries so sending it out wasn't worth it.

This Tour is a wonderful shooter right out of the box. Everything about it feels right. Like Bloodtrail said, shots that I thought were not that good were actually way better than I thought. I am going to build some 305 gn. arrows for this and try it for 3D. The one thing I absolutely love about this bow is the draw, it is just so smooth and seamless. Was going to drop the poundage for indoors but I have changed my mind, leaving it at 61.

Same with me, I have mine set at 60# for 3-D, but already have my indoor spot bow sight on the bow and shooting it for indoors at 60# as the draw is so smooth and easy!

    Default XLR to the Tour

The XLR was a very good shooter for me.

The short time I have been shooting the Tour, it seems to be more forgiving.

I think also with the limbs not as parrallel as the XLR it is crisper when the shot breaks with a back tension release.

The longer ata helps. I had an xlr with cudas cams it was 36 ata and this is 38 ata. Xlr 8.5 brace height as compared to 8" bh with the tour. The 2" additional ATA helps.

I've just decided to order 28.5 cams for my Tour. I am going to put a Torqueless on it and tweak the stops for 65-7-%. I should wind up with 28 to 281/4. This should be better for me than the 273/4 it is at now. Shoots really great but I just think I should be a little longer. At least with the 2 sets of mods I will be able to shoot both and compare results. I shoot strictly back tension with a hinge.

Why put a grip on it instead of just shooting off the handle? "Torqueless" or not that grip isn't as torqueless as no grip.

Here is how I am running my stab setup on the Tour. Interesting concept, might be useful for some of you ...

Shooting off the handle does not accomplish what I am trying to do which is get my DL to 28 1/8th, 1/4 with a 65 to 70% let off. I want the cams at their max efficiency and I think I can do that better with the 28.5 cams. I really don't have any problems with the torqueless grips.

I hear ya...didn't think about that. I love shooting off the riser though and no grip gives me the same feel. But what you mentioned about performance and letoff is why I am gonna order my Tour with 28" cams to get 27.75" or slightly less.
