    Default Elite Letoff

Do Elite bows have high letoffs, greater than 80%?

Depending on the bow, draw length and tune, I have seen 92% let off.
    So yes, 80% is attainable.

I currently have the bow noted in my signature, but am only able to get ~ 70% LO. I'd really like to get an honest 80%, preferably an 85% LO. My bow is currently set for 55lb & I've turned over the 69 leaf, so I would really like to have a holding force less than ~ 17lb. A real 85% LO would cut that in half.

The Aigil SS has the highest let off I have seen. It is a modified Aigil, which is the only solo cam bow Elite made for one year in 2008. Many archers put Rev cams on them to make a dual cam bow very much like the Z28 but faster. You can get down to one pound let off and one of the problems when setting one up is not locking it up. You really need a draw board to get it right.

They are often for sale and I have two. I would consider selling one of mine but look on the Trading Post here and on AT for an Aigil SS and PM the seller and ask what let off they are getting. I am sure any owner can set it as low as you want.

Aigil ss Has no warranty from Elite. its not a production bow. all the newer Elite bows can be tuned to lock up if you wanted to do it.
You can get most 70lb bows to as low as holding 7-8 lbs if you want.

Have a question does it slow the bow down with less holding weight?

My tour arrived with 86% let off. Scared the crap out of me because it almost felt like it was locked up. I changed it to 75% and it feels really good. Changed my DL but I can live with it. May play with a longer mod and fiddle with stops to get back to my DL.

I have not seen speeds drop on high let off bows that are designed like the elite. You must be careful in that the higher the let off the more your shot is likely to be affected by slight movements of your release.

Generally yes, you do loose some speed. More important to me is I find it hard to be accurate with a high let off. It is harder to hold steady due to the lack of dynamic tension when at full draw, feels "mushy" to me. I have read in archery books that you should shoot as high a let off as you can hold comfortably. I lite about 70% myself.

PS - thanks to Maybee-R for pointing out that this bow would not be covered as it is a customized bow. Some archers will not sell their Aigil SS bows without returning them to their original solo cam state.

With just about every cam design out there yes. But with a binary type system it allows more rotation which means more speed.
Ive set draw lengths to 30 inch with a 29.5 cam and compared speeds to a 30 inch cam set at 30 inch. and the speed ended up within 2fps. One having a huge letoff the other not so much.
Hysteresis in the limbs? Not sure. but I can gain speed by not allowing much over holding for a longer time. Kevin touched on it when he was on here. I wish I would of paid more attention.

release the arrow as soon as you bump the back wall record speed.
then hold at full draw and count to 5 then release and Ill bet you its slower then the first shot. by as much as 5-7fps.
