    Default Well guys, its official!

I've owned a bunch of bows in my day. As of about 6 years ago I kind of got on the short bow fad.

I've became disabled [thanks to a nasty little tick] and I've been fighting accuracy problems for a few years now. I just have not been able to be consistant to save my life. Some days I shot well, others I was off by more than I like and have been accustom to.

So a couple months ago I had a hunch that I should try a longer A2A bow. Being a poor boy, I decided to look for a longer cheaper used bow.

I really wanted a Pure but I've never shot one before and they are more $$$ than I could come up with at the time.

So I found a like new 101st Airborne for a good price. Got it home and set it up and dang, I was right. My accuracy improved about 80% over all. That longer bow feels like I remember a bow should feel like and I'm just about twice as accurate and consistant as I am with a shorter bow.

Now the bad part........... I have once again became accustom to a longer A2A bow and now my 2010 Z28 feels, well, not right. I feel kind of twisted up and, just not like I want a bow to feel. My accuracy, like the other shorter bows, is just not as consistant as I like with it.

That little bow is like it came out of the box, not a scratch. Said I'd never sell it but now
I'm thinking of selling it or trying to trade it for a Pure.
From what all I've heard the Pure would be a great bow with dang near the same specs as my 101st.

So, yep, I've got the Elite itch again.

Nothing wrong with trading up, (just as long as you're still shooting an Elite, ).

But the most important part is that you now know what it is that you want, and what you need to be a better archer.

Skeeter I have debated stepping up to a Hunter but can't let go of the success and ATA my GT's have provided. It is the first time in years that I have kept the same make/model of bow this long. My goal was to get through the year with my GT's and may make it but look out for 2012!

I'm a fan of 35-37 inch range ata but with that said I shoot my 31" and 32" ata bow almost as well but they are hunting set ups. I don't believe you are suffering from too short a bow but maybe something else. Is the draw length measured on both and are they exact, maybe the shorter one is too long, what about arrows, are they right for that bow and do they have the proper foc. How's your form with the shorter bow and do you use the same shot routine. Maybe you were just in a bit of a funk for a while, happens every once in a while.

I shot the 30-32" bows for a while. Used to shoot 34-36" bows. When I went to the Pulse it felt like 1000% better. I am 6'2" and the longer bows just shoot SOOO much better for me.

Nope, I'm quite sure everything is right on my Z28. If I go any shorter or longer on the DL, its def not right.

My true test of a bows set up has always been bareshaft tuning. Thats the real meat and taters right there.

I can shoot my Z pretty good at times but it simply takes more of an effort to do so accurately. Just doesnt feel as natural as the longer bow I have.

But I've decided to keep the Z, for now anyway, because most all my hunting shots average 12-15 yards. I can always shoot my 101st if I hunt field edges.

If I just practice with the Z through out the season I'll get back to where it feels a little better but there is no doubts what so ever that a longer bow is more accurate in this ole boys hands.

When compounds fist came out , man did we think they were short ! Next to the new ones now they look like recurves . Funny back then no one ever even thought about a shorter bow than what was out . They were great for stalking , and tree stands . Tree's must grow differently now because everybody needs a 29 in. bow for hunting . It's called brainwashing .

Of topic but it reminds me of fishing rods. First it was fiberglass rods. Then it went to stiffer pistol grip graphite rods. The to longer trigger sticks with lighter action graghite rods. No we are back to fiberglass rods so we don't pull the hooks out of the fishes mouth.

And that's why the wheels on the bus go round and round.
