Default Proposed NYS DEC changes for next year

Some good some not so good. What do some of you New Yorkers think?

I think it's gonna drive me to hunt in PA. As you said, some good, some not. But I am sick of the typical NYS less for more mentality.

One part I really like is that they want to reduce the age to hunt big game to 12. I had to wait until 16 to hunt big game. At least I can take my sons hunting when they turn 12.

    mixed feelings:
not a big fan of the early muzzleloader season. I'd prefer to see perhaps the first few day of the traditional firearms season limmited to front stuffers to "ease" into the bedlem of gun season, but that will never happen. I am biased and in the minority, I rarely even hit the woods anymore for the first few weeks of gun, the change in the woods is depresing to me after the relative tranquility of bow season...
I'm torn with the timing of the youth season. i have growing children and recognize the downhill slide of kids getting their buts off the couch and in the woods but.. I am concerned about a flurry of gun activity pre-prime time for bow season. All depends on where you hunt as well. The youth turkey season is a good thing, however on some of the public land i hunt, it definately has had a negative impact on the adult season. i can live it though.
Call me switzerland on the bow season opening earlier, I generally have my best luck after haloween anyway as far as mature buck activity, so I'm not all that excited about it and two more weeks of bow hunting could send me to divorce court..
