    Default Another Arrow Question

    Guys,

New to archery here......Just looking for some input on a hunting arrow for my 2010 Z28.

    I'm shooting 58 lbs. and 27.5 DL.

What is best for me regarding speed, hard hitting, etc. Main hunting will be whitetail.

Is a light/fast arrow better.......or will a slightly heavier arrow be better for penetration.

Currently I have CX Maxima Hunter 250's....total arrow weight = 350 grains. Not real impressed with their durability or the price tag.

Any suggestions are welcome......as I'm not real educated on selecting arrows yet.

    thanks in advance...

    Drew

shootin Easton Axis 400s out of my Pure... 28.5 in draw,62lb draw weight,393 total arrow weight and im getting 266. When I shoot my Easton Axis FMJs im gettin 254(10.9gpi). The axis seem tuff as nails! They arent the most expensive I dont think, however they arent the cheapest. Fly good....give them a try!

A lot of good arrows that are and can be used with your setup. Price, spine, and weight are the things to look for. The spine is a must be "right" sorta thing. You can altar the spine a bit by the length of the arrow or the weight of the head. The weight will determine your speed, somewhat, for the heavier the arrow, the slower it will go. And price is not a way to buy arrows, unless one shop has them for less or they are on sale for the same ones you want. Never buy arrows precut and with the inserts installed like the box stores sell them. Have a shop help with the length you need.

I started shooting Easton Flatline's this year and they are a tough arrow! I've shot them into trees trying to get used to a thumb release and not one has broken. I do have uni bushings with g-nocks which helps keep them from splitting if I am grouping arrows. I plan on shooting 400's cut to 28" carbon to carbon with a 100 grain broadhead weighing about 360 grains from a GT500 set at 60# and 29" draw.

I'm sure you are familiar with Weaver's. You can buy in quantities of 3 there, so you can try out some different shafts and see what groups well out of your bow.

So far I"m liking the Beman Speeds! Havent had alot of chance to shoot them due to some neck/shoulder problems, but the few times i've shot them have produced good groups.
also, i yanked one tonight and shot it thru the wood fence backstop behind my target. Penetrated about 8-10" and arrow was not fazed.
