We were wading Lost Lake on the south shoreline Galveston and my 17 yr old son Chase had just caught a flounder. He was getting the lure out and took a step and said something just bit the heel of his right foot. Ten seconds later the pain hit. The stinger hit just above the heavy rubber on his wade boot and punched right through the soft neoprene. We got him on the boat and short trip back to the house at Pirates Cove. Loaded him in the back of the truck with his foot in an igloo cooler of hot water. We got him over to UTMB as quick as we could. He was in serious pain. They hit him with some morphine and x-rayed the wound. The doc probed 2" up in the wound channel and found it was an in and out wound with none of the stinger found. They got the wound flushed out and cleaned up. We got him back to the house keeping his foot soaking in hot water and the pain finally subsided about 2am where he could sleep. Have him loaded up on antibiotics now with fingers crossed for no infection to set in.
He had just gone by BassPro last week to grab some raygaurds and they were out. Guys be careful I do not wish this kind of pain on anyone.
