I guess it's not a matter of "if" but more of "when" you will have a d-loop let loose and you hit yourself in the nose I have a headach

Save yourself a headache and toss the D loop and get the fletchmatic rope release. Kevin uses it and turned me onto it. It took a while to get used to it but now I love it.

I draw my bow lower now from a episode of a loop breaking. now if one breaks my hand hits me under the chin or in the chest. still hurts either way. but I stay on my feet now.

I agree the fletchmatic is a great release, mine is around 20 years old with no idea how many shoots and still going. I still use a loop on my hunting bow with bcy material and a fletcher flathead release without any problems.

I've had a couple break, it's hard not to flinch the next couple of weeks when you draw your bow after one of those. Also had a release head come completely off and smacked myself in the face with the other half of the release.

I let go of a release once. It went forward into the roller guard on a Mathews bounce back hit me in the throat. went forward again hit the cable and bounced side ways in to the guy standing next to me. hit him in the back. then it hit the floor spinning. wasn't fun at all. took awhile to shake that one off. nobody wanted to shoot in front of me for awhile.
Had a knot the size of a golf ball for two days. right under my chin.
