Bow Press and Vice

My closest archery shop is 40+ miles away, and so I am trying to get set up to do more of my own bow setup and tuning at home. I was wondering what you guys think of the Apple Archery Edge press and their bow vise. Are they good quality, do you like them or not? If not what do you recommend for an affordable home setup? Thanks for your help.

Do a search on Ebay. There is a guy named Bill from MT who makes some great presses, much better then the Apple for great prices. I just bought his linear for $300. He makes one that is similar to Apple for $225. Great guy too. best presses that I have seen for the money.

The draw back to the Apple Archery Edge press is that you cannot completely break down/take your bow apart, so if you needed to replace limbs you would not be able to do so without a modification to the press. If you look on AT you might be able to find a EZ press style bowpress for a good price, you will need the Elite style fingers no matter what style liner press you get so hopefully you won't have to loosen the draw stops to work on the bow. If you forget to put the stops back it will lock up on you at full draw, I have a Sootballs EZ press style press and it works great. It also has a draw board built into it so it's the best of both worlds. There are a lot of nice presses out there so look around a little before setting down the cash.
