Default Knowing what you know about Elite would you?

Buy another name brand bow from a shop that is closer to be loyal? I just read a thread over on AT about a guy who has limited his choices and won't consider any other bow than what that shop has to offer.....I told him about my close shop loyalty and how I drive over an hour to buy an Elite cause that is the best bow for me on the market. I buy alot of things from the closer shop including arrows but when it comes to bows......I will travel half a day to get the bow I want. I call that loyalty also......am I wrong on this?

Nope, i go outta town to get Elites. The shop in my town only has Bowtech and Mattys bows. It's really only about a 30 minute drive but i'll take the drive everytime.

Thats the same way I feel about the Elites and I won't be so closed minded as to buy a bow just to be loyal to a dealer that is close by. I wish he had the Elites, save me some time and gas but I would be amiss to convince myself that just any other bow would suffice. Can't do that.....

I have a long standing, great relationship with an awesome local shop, but I will always buy the bows I like best, and that work best for me, even if that means going somewhere else. The owner is a great guy, and a super bow tech, and I think he understands and respects that.

There is another shop that isn't too far away that I have always gone to for all my fishing needs which is now an Elite dealer, so if/when I do buy any new Elite bows, my money will still be going to a great local business.

I drove 3-hrs one way (2x) just to meet Rick and have my bows tuned. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I think its more important to find a product you enjoy and support that business than support a business because they carry a product that is convenient.

In my sig- the fellow who onws those is a friend, and has been REALLY good to me over the years. I've spent tens of thousands with him (often buying 5-7 bows a year, in years past, nearly all my arrows & accessories), and I worked their last spring/summer when I was between jobs, not to mention help out customers when they are slammed and I happen to be around BS'ing. At one time, I know they wanted me to to run one of the new shops when they expanded, but at the time, I was going through a divorce, had taken time off from archery, etc, and it just never panned out.

He's given me over the years alot of discounts. Some things I probably end up paying around cost on, most things, prolly what you'd buy it at Cabelas for. I can go over and shoot at the 40 yard range if I want even when they are not open. I have to sneak my money to him to pay for indoor range time, otherwise he tries to give it back, etc. Now, my area- has one of the highest costs of living in the country- so EVERYTHING is at a premium here- including archery equipment. And although he is NOt the cheapest in the area, no doubt he is the best overall dealer. And he's been able to open up 3 other shops because of his success and smart business-sense (unfortunately, one of them closed permanently last winter due to the building getting flooded beyond repair during a storm)

So definitely I feel a great amount of loyalty to purchase from him, to further show my support for all that he has done for me. On occasion, maybe 3, 4 times, in the past 10 years I have bought bows elsewhere, and frankly I felt awful walking into his shop with them.

Unfortunately he does not carry EVERY brand bow that interests me (Darton, for example), but he does carry all the major brands and most of the secondary big names.

You are the consumer, you should get what you want when you open you wallet. That being said, I definitely believe in supporting your local shop with as many purchases as you can. But, if they don't carry a particular item/product, then you have to go elsewhere for that item. If a shop gets bent because of this, then they either need to stock everything or get over it and realize this is a supply & demand economy.

It's about what I want!! If they don't have it I'll find someone who does.

I've used 1 shop for 7yrs & work for him part time making my strings & selling them as well as tuning bows. I get a huge discount & If I want something & don't have the money I still leave the shop with it & pay a little every 2wks. He is great to me but, if he want get something I want & sometimes he want I'll get it from someone else.
