Default Bear strike or Hoyt Turbohawk

    Bear strike or Hoyt Turbohawk

Hey guys I just shot a Bear strike and have to say I was extremly accurate with it with groupings at 40 yards around 8 inches. The bow was light short quiet and hardly any vibration.I was at a local archery shop and my buddy just got a 2011 Hoyt rampage so I was looking around and noticed he has a 2010 Hoyt turbohawk package deal for 543$ The bow is 32in axel to axle with the bear at 30in so real close. I drew the Hoyt bow and it feels good to me but so did the bear. My buddy picked up a 2011 Hoyt rampage shoots nice but seemed a little bulky at 34in Ax to Ax but was nice to shoot. My question here is Which bow would you choose if given the option are Bears still cheap walmart specials? Seems to me the strike did not look feel or shoot like a cheap bow. And I know hoyt are quality bows. I plan on shooting 3D this up comming year and dont want to be the only guy there shooting a bear from Gander mountain. Or are todays modern bow more of a matter of preferance? Oh and the Bear was a 60 70# bow and the TurboHawk is a 50-60. The bear I shot was set up at 64# and shot 265 with a 410grain carbon arrow. Have no clue what the turbohawk will do but the IBO is 320 on it.

Haven't shot either. Maybe you'd like an Elite?

Agreed, a used Z28 would seem to fit the ata range, would be cheaper, and still carries a full warranty, backed by customer service that is as good as it gets. Oh, plus, unlike the others(which are both fine, just not "Elite good"), the Z will make you say WOW.

The other 2 you have mentioned are fine bows, I would opt for the strike, just because the Hoyt feel doesn't suit me well. Whatever you choose, you don't have to shoot an Elite to be welcomed here.

Now a bit about Elite. The bows are a joy to shoot. The fit an finish is as good as it could ever be. The bows are covered under warranty beyond just the first owner. Check out the Elite promise and hunt gaurantee. Amazing stuff there.

This is the Elite Archery forum, but we like all sorts of archery stuff. Most are VERY biased towards Elite bows here however! You might even call us fanboys (I'm one!).

Good luck choosing your bow. But, before you do, shoot an Elite! It just might be what you're looking for!

    Welcome to Elite Forum,

Bears are nice and Hoyt are great bows. I am somewhat partial to Elite as well but I do not discriminate bow brands because each is somewhat unique and different in their own ways. Of all the bows (Mathews, PSE, Hoyt, Bowtech and Elite) hanging in the basement, my go to bows are Elite. Don't shoot an Elite or you will want two or more.

To answer your question, Bear and Hoyt are two very different bows. Shoot them and only you will know which one you like better. IMHO, I think Hoyt is the better of the two. Good Luck!

to the EAF, and the Elite addiction.

Look into the Z-28. Awesome bows.

Run the dealer locator on the Elite home page, and go give one a test-drive.

If there isn't one close to you, just post where you're from, and I'm sure that one of the EAF brothers will set you up with a few bows to try.
