Took my son to the lease this past weekend because it was Youth Weekend and was hoping that he could kill his very first buck (other than a spike). We saw a nice 8pt Saturday morning but judging the buck he appeared to be a 2 1/2 year old (maybe 3) but still has potential so we let him walk. Saw alot of deer that morning. On the evening hunt I shot the hog with the new PURE bow while we were waiting to see if any deer showed up. About 615pm we had 4 deer at our feeder but no bucks. All of a sudden out of nowhere you could hear them...a pack of oinkers coming. About 10 of them showed up and ran the deer off...most of them in the 100lb range. Then here he came ol bubba. He was head and shoulders bigger than any of the other ones there. I ask my son if he wanted to shoot him and he said Oh Yeah!!!! I said wait till he turns broadside and shoot him right behind the shoulder. After a little wait the shot was there and I said drill him!!! He fired his .243 (with a 95gr Ballistic Silver Tip) and I saw the impact...perfect shot. The bruiser hauled off with the smaller ones in tow. I said lets get out and find him so I can take pictures. We got out of the pop up and walked over to where he shot the hog. Found the blood trail and found him piled up about a 100 yards away. My son's first hog and its a dandy. Good shooting by my 13 year old little buddy. The smile says it all.
