Topwater Smallies

There was a harvest moon last night and the Smallmouth were slamming the topwater. I love this time of year. The cooler water brings on outstanding fishing, cooler air temps gets the deer to moving and all that equals a happy Smash. Here's my 'ol man with a chunky little smallie.

Smallmouth are my favorite. They're the most aggressive, hardest fighting pound for pound bass around.

I had a giant blow up on my Chug Bug last night, he got about 3 feet of air. He knocked my bait about 6 feet from where it was when he hit it. I've caught a ton of smallies and this one was pushing 5 pounds. I tried for 20 more minutes to get him to hit again with no luck. It would've made awesome footage if I had a cameraman.

I went again this evening and really whacked them. I caught one of the largest smallmouth I've ever caught. She was pushing 5 pounds, maybe over. I'll post some pics Monday. My thumb is all chewed up from lipping fish......I love having "bass thumb"

I miss bass thumb! I just can't find the time to get some fishing in which is pretty sad since I live 2 miles from one of the best smallie rivers in the country.

It sure is awesome to see 3 to 4+ smallmouth blowing up on topwaters. It almost makes me want to fish instead of bowhunt.........almost

Only thing Id rather catch than smalls on top is pike on top. But **** that looks good.
Fishin sucks here, trout has gotten old.
