Default Bowhunting Bow! Elite? Please help....

I have owned a 2008 Bowtech Ally since 08. I love the bow (not getting rid of it ever) but looking to get another bow. I recently bought a hoyt maxxis 35 and do not like it so far. The bow has no valley and if you relax a little the bow wants to take off on me. IMO not good for bowhunting. So im still in search of a bow to add to my Ally. I dont have a elite dealer in my area (2.5 hours). I want to know what bow stacks up with my Ally? Which Elite bow has the best valley? I figured the GT500 would compare best with my Ally but have read that the GT500 doesnt have a valley? Thanks for any help or input!

    First of all welcome aboard!!

The GT can be tuned to a decent valley. From what I understand the 2010 models with the mods have a better valley than past models.

Actually the 2006 E-500 is the same bow as your Allegiance except it has 6 layer Barnsdale limbs and a little faster cams. I would suggest the 2010 GT500. The new modular Rev cams have a very nice valley/let off and should give you something a little new and faster than the Ally depending on the speeds you are getting now. I am assuming though that you are looking for a similiar like bow to your BT.

    Default Gt500

These are the specs on the GT500 I hunt with-
    30"
    72#
    13.5# holding weight

Easiest bow to aim and hold at full draw i've ever used- comes in especially handy on those long shots or on cold days...

    Welcome to the Forum!!

TexasRattlesnake loved his "alley" also, can't remember which Elite he got that he said felt the closest to it. maybe he will chime in??
E-500 would be good but hard to find. (a few around here hole them up like squirrels and acorns)
Bet you would like the GTO.

but if your wanting "new" GT500 like 10pt said.

Thanks for the welcome! Does the z28 hold better than the GT500?

    Default Gt500

My GT500 has plenty of valley. It has more valley than my Guardian or my Commander. Personally, I don't think the Z holds as well as a GT500, but that's just my opinion. I know what you mean about the Hoyt not having much valley. I've shot most of the new Hoyts in the last 2 years. The Maxxis is a very nice bow, but not much valley.

The GT500 sounds like the perfect bow for me. Has Elite started shipping these in left hand? I contacted lancaster archery and they dont have any 2010 Elites other that the Judge. What should I expect to pay for a 2010 GT500?

Some like the GT, and some like the Z28.
Now I never have been a fan of anything around 32" ATA, The GT500 was nice and was the one I went to the shop to try, and would have bought, But they had a Z ready to shoot sooo..... why not I told myself. I shot both and was blown away with the smoothness of the Z. Matter of fact I think I put about 70 shots through her. I could not put her down.
    I think I now am a fan of a 32" bow.

Now, the GT is faster and plenty smooth! But I am a bow hunter. A smooth draw means more to me than a fast bow. and the Z was just what my docter ordered. Thats just my personal preference.

Moral of the story: You got to go shoot them! You will be glad you did!
Post up which one you pick, or should I say "PICKS YOU"!

From reading your posts. Sounds like the GT500 more like the bow your looking for in elite bows. Its diffiantly a shooter. Really just a great all around bow. Has a good back wall but breaks over into the valley well.
The Rev Cams the cam I find to like best.

I own a Z28 and its the perfect hunting bow. Not the fastest but has a smooth draw all the wa through the pull and easy to let down.
Good luck and there really good bows.
