Default Draw cycle vs hold and feel

    which is more important?

Some threads got me think how important really is the "draw"..sure you want it to be as smooth as can be..but for hunting for instance you basically (hopefully) draw once and done..most dont get a second shot...now being able to hold on your target longer is important..For target generally you shoot lower poundage anyway which makes most anything easier to draw and again you need to be able to hold on your target longer

would you say that if you cant draw the bow smoothly its parts because you are pulling too much weight?

just wondering..to me this makes sense that the hold and feel are more important..

I agree Dc, I could care less what it draws like, although it is nice to have the whole package. I was shooting 80 w/speed mods, you can't find much worse for draw, so I am told. Didn't bother me, what I liked was how it felt, and held

For me I draw my bow slowly when deer aproaching. I also let down often if shots not right. I want a bow that lets down slowly as well.

Z28 fits this mold for me.

Speed bows are often harsh on draw for me hunting.

I can see where let down might be even more cruical..especially for hunting..you need to have control..which is all depending on cam system right?

One of my favorite bows from years past was the Hoyt Trykon. Many people complained about the draw cycle and it was even a little awkward to me at first. Within a few days of shooting the awkwardness went away. What I was left with was one of the best shooting bows that I have ever owned.

Our muscles learn to compensate for the way our bows draw... but they'll never learn to counter a bow that doesn't hold well.

Draw force curve! One reason I liked my speed mods, is that they were predictable. I knew when they were gonna rip my arm off. The new cams, with the long valleys, I never seem to now where the beginning of the valley is at, when letting down. With a Z cam, weight drops off a little before the valley, instead of building up just before, HEY, you just pickin our brains taking our minds off the junk thats been happening, keepin us level headed and all that silly stuff. Just kiddin Dc!

THINKIN? WHAT??? I hate it when that happens!!!LOL I can't know right now how either of my Elite's hold. Both missing sights, and the Syn is missing the rest. Setting my kids up for the state tourney. Selling off some extra stuff lying around too. Waiting for my favorite dealer to get some supplies in, like SWORD SIGHTS!!!

Couldn't agree more. I had the same experience with my Trykon XL. Watch people draw the next time you're at a shoot. I see a lot of people drawing bows with a reputation for being smooth on the draw, struggle to get to full draw. Whereas, my "tough drawing" cam and a half (at the time) came back easy as could be with the site picture nearly perfect when I hit full draw. I'm sure a lot of this is due to people be over-bowed.

    Meaning too heavy draw weight?

For your draw weight to be consider.."right"..arent you to be able to pull the bow straight back..not up in the air or pointing downward?
