    Default 1st DEER w. 09 Z28

I just got my bow dialed in at 25yrds yesterday. 4am hit the gym and home by 600am. Checked the back yard (lots of woods and deer) with nothing showing. Just before shower time (615) CHECKED AGAIN AND bingo!!! Medium size 6pt and a small doe both 30 - 35yrds out. Steep down angle.

I'm using RAGE 3 blade and the buck didnt move from broadside so I took a shot. Not positive but I believe I got him in the neck area. I was aiming for the heart area. He ran 10yrds and stopped. Later found pool of blood there.

Took me a bit to find the trail (missing rifle at this point) but followed blood for about 60 or so yrds. I got happier when I saw a decent pool leading me to think he stopped for a breath.

Unfortunately I had to ditch and run to work. Left a message for my neighbor to get it ( he owns a bread route and works 4am to 2pm) as I would be home after dark. He sent me a text and said he got it and it was a good 150+.

Tomm. I'll know more but I really looked for my arrow and couldn't find it. I don't think the RAGE opened. Not enough blood IMHO. I get the same type blood trail from a lung shot 25cal rifle. Dont want to talk out my butt -- maybe I did not load them correctly?? If operator error is a factor than that would be me. Haven't shot a bow in 17yrs...

I am **** proud to hit at 30-35yrds seeing I have only about 20 shots w. a bow in 17yrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Testiment that the Z is that easy to shoot. Cant wait to shoot for groups.

Thinking of moving to fixed blades. Any advice welcome -- I need it.

Are you talking about inches of rack or 150 yards? A 150 inch 6 pointer Is one **** of a 6 pinter man. Cangrats on the buck, make sure you upload some pictures.

150 lbs is a big deer where I hunt to lol...as for the rage im nto sure about the 3 blade but the broadhead only works if you hit them in the right spot...ive seen goodholes from rage heads in the neck on deer to so maybe it wasnt loaded right? Im thinking about useing 3 blade rage in my GTO....either way man congrats!!!! Hopefully we can help you out with the problems you had with the rage head also!!!

    Default Broadheads

Consider the Slick Tricks if your going to a fix Broadhead. Rage usually makes a good holes.

    I shoot the 100grn magnum.

Here the hole made with Trick o doe a few days ago.

Now if you double lung shot these deer. One cant go far if they cant breathe. 35yrds isnt no easy shot for an accomplished archer. I really study each deer and where the hit is to make sure I caught vitals always before blaming the broadhead.
