Question about cable slide on 08 Synergy

Just received my 08 Synergy (my first Elite) and am absolutely loving everything about this bow. It's shooting so well that I'm very hesitant to alter anything, but I noticed that the factory cable slide gives me a lot more vane clearance than I need.

I have a bunch of other slides that let the cables out further from the rod than the factory slide, and I'm wondering if the tech gurus can weigh in on whether I should install one of them or not. I always assumed that the less the cables are pulled in the better, but I'd like to be sure. Good idea? Bad idea? Would I have to move my rest in one direction or another if I make the change?
