Default I left a kid crying in the driveway and killed his deer...

Ive been mentoring a kid who wants to get into bowhunting. He's been practicing all summer and was psyched to go hunting today. Welp, I gave him strict instructions to run straight from the bus stop after school to his house to drop his books and change clothes. I told him he needed to hurry cus I wanted to put him on a hot stand before 5pm so NO laligaging. So, when I saw him come running from his house towards my truck with a drink in his hand I figured he must have gone out of his way to open the fridge and get the drink thus slowing me down. I punched the gas and left him crying in the driveway...

Worked out for the best cus I stole his stand and doubled up!

I know what some of you are thinking...dont worry, im sure he'll learn from his mistake and I was nice enough to leave him something to kill next time out.

That's the way it's got to be: Rules is Rules! He'll thank you for that someday.

I read threads about how it is great hunting with others and introducing them to the sport, being able to hunt with your dad, family and friends, etc. You know, those soft hearted, warm and fuzzy ones.

Only from Cordwood would we see a thread about running off and leaving a kid crying.

Oh well, lessons can be hard sometimes.

    Congrats on the milkers!!

I don't know you and this is the first thread of yours I've read. I don't know if you writing this thread just to get a reaction or if its for real. If by chance you are for real, and this did happen I would say it would be in the kids best interest to find a new mentor. As a first impression you come across as being a selfish..jerk.

I think you could of mentioned something to him as you both went out hunting together about the drink, but burning out leaving him in the driveway...get real

    The Definition of Mentor is
    1. a wise and trusted counselor or teacher. 2. an influential senior sponsor or supporter.

IMO your story and how you acted definitely doesn't exhibit those qualities

Wow so you really showed him by acting his age.

You don't deserve to be a mentor to anyone! If I was that kids Dad you'd have an a__ whooping coming.

You should have offered to hold the drink for him and then peeled out.

I have left without both of my best hunting companions before, if they don't show up at the appointed time, {with an allowance for some unforeseen problem} I'm gone.

What I would like to know is were they still suckeling their mom at the time you shot them they kinda look to be on the small side. Did the two of them weigh 100lbs if you put them both on the scale at the same time! Better the kid didn't see you shoot the babies anyway probably would of broke his heart. LOL

I think what kind of a drink should have played a roll.

A pespi leave the kid behnid.
A Coke take him with you.
A beer put him on the stand and then go check out his mom.
A v8 let him get another mentor
