What's the "dumbest" thing you've done while engaged in the sport of archery? You know, something that you did and then said "um, oops!".

I set a back tension release too sensitive, and when I got almost to full draw it went off. The arrow hit the basement wall and the arrow came back at me faster than it left the bow "or aleast so it seemed". The vanes of the arrow hit the top of my head as I was ducking.

Very Close Call for a stupid experiment.

Yikes! What type of arrow was it? When my carbons hit anything solid they blow up!

The arrow was a Victory HV 1. and Exactly what kept this arrow from exploding when it hit the wall, I will never know. This story is hard to believe but I guess you just had to be there.

Put a "temporary" nock point on new string with a compression nock; was wanting to find exact location for a D loop. At full draw, the thing began to slip upward. I eventually had to release. Resulted in a Victory HV arrow breaking into three pieces.

    It could have been worse.

Not to minimize the "danger" of the situation, but that would be hilarious to watch happen. I bet that arrow bounced off the riser!!

My scary moment was shooting my bow at a 20 yard target when the last time I had shot the bow, I was at a 60 yard target. A few days had passed, I pulled it out, didn't check the dial...needless to say, I missed the target (it was a Block 4x4) and it hit something unintended. I'll plead the 5th and not state where I was shooting, but let's say I haven't shot at this location since! Luckily, my CarbonTech Cheetah imploded on impact after drilling 6" or so into the solid object that stopped it.

I have one kinda like that one Smeagol. My son and I were shooting a field round about 10 years ago. We had just finished shooting our 80 yard target when a very attractive lady (and single!) we were shooting with wanted me to shoot her new release. I guess in all of my excitement and obviously wanting to show off a little I forgot to reset my sights. Never did find that arrow....

I would say buying a $20 release. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why i was so inconsistent earlier in the year....so i went out & bought a Scott Sabertooth....unbelievable difference. Otherwise, i would have to say the habit of constantly tinkering with things on my bow....i messed up more things that i care to admit!
