Just wondering if Elite Risers are fully machined or extruded.
Just wondering if Elite Risers are fully machined or extruded.
This was directly from Kevin in another thread...maybe this helps?
Elite risers are forged and then machined, the strongest type of riser that can be made, a forging is NOT a casting. No one but Martin makes cast risers anymore. Castings are a very cheap and inferior way to make a riser.
A forging is also NOT an extrusion. Which is how Bowtech makes the 82 and 101 risers they come from an extrusion. This is better than a cast riser but not as good as a forging.

For anyone wondering:
"Pouring molten alloy into pre-molded forms produces cast metal. This method results in a versatile shape that can be machined, etched or carved to yield a great variety of designs.
Forcing or drawing semi-molten metal through dies, like a chef uses a pastry bag, produces extruded shapes. Designs having linear characteristics are possible.
Forged metal is hammered, pressed or rolled into shape. A smooth, dense product results from this process"
I didn't know they were forged. I have the GTO on order. I have alot more confidence in the riser now that I know it's forged. A forged riser is more consistent and stronger.![]()
I shot an arrow toward the sky. I hit a white cloud floating by. It came down dying to the shore. I don't shoot arrows anymore. (S.S.)
Yep, nice to know you have a nice dense material at that thin grip :-)
I ordered a GTO without seeing or shooting one (I have shot the Envy) the more I read about the quality of the materials used I am glad I ordered it over the General I had my eye on!
I was so impressed by the synergy I'll have no problems ordering a GTO sight unseen if needed....can't wait to get my hands on it.
i shot the 07 Synergy... that's what helped me order my GTO sight unseen... if it's half as good as that bow... i'm gonna be in hog heaven...![]()
