BOOM!!! ...got one.Not a monster but still a good bird and an awesome kill. I am amped...totally TOTALLY AMPED!!!
It rained last night and part of the morning so I didnt hit the woods until 9am...I walked about a 100yds from the truck and hit the peacock locator call, nothin. I walked about another 80yds and hit the peacock call again and Gobbleblebleble! I moved into a good position and set out the decoy...while doing so he gobbled again but sounded like he was heading away. I let out a short sequence of soft yelps but he didnt answer...I waited a minute and tried again, this time a little louder. He cut me of with a good gobble but he sounded like he was a good 150-200yds away. I was psyched he answered back but gave him a couple minutes before calling again. I let out a few yelps and nothing...I called again a little louder and BAMM!, he hammered back and was close! I shut up and clicked the gun off safety...within a few seconds there he was about 60yds away blown up in full strut coming straight in to my hen decoy. He put on a good show the whole way in but I stopped him at about 25yds with a putt...he stretched his neck out nice and I crushed him with a pull of the trigger.
Im not smiling but on the inside im ecstatic!
A short 20min hunt but what a :censored2: rush.
