    Default Hookin' Up????

OK, now that your mind is out of the gutter, let me propose a question...

While using thumb trigger release, such a Spot Hogg Friday Night Delight, would it be better to hook into the d-loop perpendicular to the shoot string, or parallel to the shoot string? Or have you even thought about that?

Hmmm... I have been hookin' up perpendicular to the shoot string, pulling perpendicular, but coming to anchor parallel with my thumb down. So to ask the question a different way, would it be better to hook up parallel(w/ thumb down), then pull perpendicular then back to perpendicular for the anchor???

I am probably overthinking this because my brain hurts as I yet still at work...

No thoughts on this, or does it even matter?

My opinion is to have the release inverted (thumb down) or as close as you can comfortably get it. The less motion when coming to full draw the better. On your thumb trigger release there is little chance of premature firing BUT if you do decide to use a B/T release in the future you will already have yourself trained in drawing your bow without firing it. On another note: Most people I know don't have their hand fully inverted. That position is uncomfortable for most and there is added tension in the forearm muscles. Try holding the release at a slight angle Remember that the key is consistancy. You can do everything "wrong" as long as you do it the same every time. Good luck!

I use a Spot-Hogg Cascade 10 release and have for more than 15 years. My release hand is inverted but not completely. Angled from jaw to neck, kind of tucked in there. Make sure your d-loop is pliable enough and long enough so that it dosen't torque your string.
