Default Firenocks are back and better

For anyone that had the chance to try out the original Firenock design knows that they were the highest quality lighted nock available. Unfortunate as it was, they had a legal issue with another company. It seems most people that make an inferior product are suing those that make top quality products. As it is the genius behind the design comes through with another great design for Archers. Please take the time to look at his web site and videos.

I am in no way affiliated with Firenock but I do use his products because like Elite they are awesome in quality and design.

I definitley need to try something different. Lumenoks are horrible and everytime I go in to buy tracernocks they are sold out. What do these cost usually?

Here is a direct quote from Dorge the creator of firenock. If you don't see the correct size contact him. He is very friendly and will let you know if he can make them for your size of arrow or not.

    Firenock "G" Series 2008/01/10 NEWS
There will be a total of 5 different Firenock packages to be offered at the ATA 2008 Indianapolis.
Not to mention the NEW and improved Firenock bow-fishing adaptor b0.95.
3 for the standard size arrows and 2 for the crossbow bolts
which 2 of them are 3 packs (w/3 matched weights) and 3 of them are single pack
    (w/2 matched weights)
NOW IMAGINE Firenock for TARGET beside the HUNTING, auto shut off in 12-17 seconds.

    Firenock "G" Series 2008/01/11 NEWS
    HOW IT WORKS!
When an arrow with Firenock "G" reaches 125 ft/seconds, it will activate the internal fuzzy logic system (which has a temperature range of -40F to 85C). which now turns on the light and the motion sensing subsystem, which in turn turns off the "G" switch. When the 4-8 protection system runs out, while the motion sensing subsystem is not being disturbed, one can apply a linear direction force of 155 "G" to the arrow, the light will turn off.
    ADVANTAGE:
    1) prevent the light form turning on from all 6 directional axis up to 150G
    2) prevent the light form turning on from 5 directional axis up to drop from 3 meter/10 ft.
    3) do not need any actuator
    4) NOT effected by magnetic force
    5) SIMPLE to use
    DISADVANTAGE
    1) COST (more detail tomorrow)
    2) weight (~2 grains more than Firenock v2.0)
    3) arrow need to reach speed no less than 125 ft/seconds to work
    4) NOT Available Yet, but soon (More detail tomorrow)
    Firenock Deactivation
    a. Wait no less than 4-8 seconds before trying to shut off the Firenock.
    b. Align the lighted firenock perpendicular to a semi-hard surface.
    c. Lift the firenock no less than 8 inches (20 cm) from the surface
    d. Drop the arrow to allow the arrow to hit the hard surface nock first via gravitational force.
    e. Upon impact, Firenock shall shut off automatically.
    f. If it does not shut off, repeat Step (b) and raise the distance in 2-inches (5 cm) increments until shut off.
Note: block of pine, top of boot, and carpet, are samples of semi-hard surface. If Firenock does not shut off after the free fall distance is as high as 12 inches (30 cm), and it is within warranty period, please send in your firenock for warranty replacement.

Firenock "G" Series 2008/01/14 NEWS with Firenock "G" on and off (VIDEO)
Here it is! For those who would like to see how you can turn on and off Firenock "G" without shooting it. I use my table for this filming. Since it is made of MDF board, it is quite hard, I can turn on Firenock "G" in less than a 5" drop. Please note how well the 4 seconds delay protection works as I bounce it a few more time just to show you all before I waited for the motion sensor to reset the system before it was shut off by another 5" drop.

FYI, the harder the material, the shorter the drop. So if it is concrete, one should be able to shut it off for less than 2.75". While 2" pile carpet floor may need the whole 8". Just for fun, it take a total of 27" on my feather pillow to shut it off.

I shall try to get a firenock "G" launch off the bow tomorrow so you all can see where it actually turned on. My last tests shows that it should turn on about 1"-1.5" after I release it which is where the beginning of the power stroke of the bow is.

I am a little confused with this new series of nocks. Do they activate and stay on until you shut them off or do they shut off on their own? I would think for hunting you would want them on until you shut them off after retrieval. And if i understand this right they no lomger need a magnet to activate them. Anyone know for sure how they work now?

From what I understand they stay lit untill they are deactivated by giving them a light bump after the timer expires. He has some videos showing how they work. I will see if I can find the vidoes later on. I can't access photobucket at work.

    here is a direct quote from our FAQ;
What arrows will Firenock “G” series fit?
Firenock GS will fit most standard carbon arrow shafts and also fit aluminum shafts that can utilize the uni-bushing system (arrow shafts with an internal diameter ID of 0.242" - 0.246".
Firenock GC will fit most standard and carbon crossbow bolt shafts with an internal diameter ID of 0.297" - 0.303".
Firenock GA will fit most slim carbon arrow shafts with an internal diameter ID of 0.202" - 0.204".
Firenock GE will fit most medium size carbon arrow shafts with an internal diameter ID of 0.230" - 0.232".

Easton Axis is 0.202" so GA it is. Or if you want the ultimate, AU will be out sometime in early August, 2008.

    Backorder? Already?

I was going to order some, but if they are on backorder already I may think twice until I find out what kind of wait I'm looking at.

No...not long of a wait at all for me. Maybe 2 or 3 extra days. i had them at my door in about 8 days I think. I know he just got a bunch in. If you go to the firenock website and add the ones that fit your arrows to the cart, it will tell you if they are on back order. I bet they aren't anymore, but I could be wrong. I think they will help me out tremendously in the deep woods when daylight is dwindling. I will be able to see exactly where my shot goes. I've also heard of some hunters being able to find their deer because the firenock and arrow was still in the deer. haha...that would be great!
