    Default Tuning...

Hello everyone. As some of you may know I just bought an Elite Fire and I have quite a while to tinker with it before hunting season Right now my bow is all set up, but I want to change the strings. It is super tuned right now.

I am getting some pro line bow strings next week brand new, and I want to install those onto my bow. Walk me through the tuning process. I have never tuned an Elite before. Mathews, yes. I want to supertune my bow. Since my bow is super tuned right now I have heard that I can make a string jig and measure my strings that are on the bow now, and then just twist the new strings to meet those measurements. I have no idea how to make a string jig... I know I will have to break the strings in, should I do this before or after I twist strings to spec? I have a bow press and draw board. Let me know what I am getting my self into and what other tools I will need. Thanks!

Put a mark on you cams where they cross you limbs. Measure you ATA, DL BH, and measure your poundage. When you put the new strings and cables on try to set it up as close as you can to the marks on cams. Check all your measurements. They should be the same or close.

    Default string specs

Make sure your strings are to spec.:

    Fire

    24 strands of 452X

    String

    50 3/4" total

end serving 0-13" .700 loop .016 dia serving

    center 24"-28" .021 dia

    end 37 3/4" - end .700 loop .016 dia serving

    Cable

    36 3/4" total

    24 strands of 452X

    end serving

    0-9" .700 loop .016 dia serving

    end serving

    32 3/4" - end .500 loop .016 dia serving

These bows are either in tune or they are not.

I didn't think I was going to, but the way I look at is I have a while until hunting season so I have time to do stuff my self to my bow and get is perfect by then.

I hate to ask but if it's perfectly tuned right now then why mess with it?

    Why not?

Can you think of something better to do than tinker in the 6 months until you know what?

I can certainly understand wanting to tinker and learn how to tune a binary but I think I would start with something that's already out of tune

Well if it is an excuse you are looking for, I am trying out Pro Line strings for Joe and seeing how I like them

I would not touch michael's tune, if you do I would bet $100 you will end up going back. I give you credit for trying to learn yourself.
