Default Who here is going to hunt Turkeys...pause...with a GUN? *gasp*

    Me.

Just wondering how many EAFrz opt to use the trusty scatter gun when it comes time for Spring Gobbler season. I dont have a ground blind or a set spot where I call from. Im more of a locate the bird, get a little closer, set out a decoy, and hope to trick one in with my calls type of hunter. It usually involves changing locations often and having to set up quick.

I have a hard enough time trying to kill one with the gun...much less the bow. Anybody else here in the same boat?

Thats the ol run and gun style works with the bow to. You don't always need a blind but it helps. Bow only for the ol thunder chickens.

I use a gun at my place upstate. The birds up there are far more wary than the local ones, not that they're easy either (with a bow).

Only if the 1st 2 1/2 weeks don't pay off with the bow. Then out comes the ol' 870.

We call it Bow & Go and it is more difficult but works well if you don't push too close. Bow Only here!!

Last year was the first year I took my bow out after them gobblers. It was fun and I was lucky enough to take one. I won't be going back to the shotgun anymore. I'm really sick of the recoil of the heavy loads and especially my ringing ears after I shoot it. I've shot over 40 birds since I was 9 so I could really care less about killing another one. I enjoy being out there in the Spring time more than killing the turkey. Great time of the year to be in the woods.
