    Default Extreme XL speeds

Guys......this bow really has my attention. I am really intrigued by the 8" ATA. I have never at all been a speed freak but, I am considering dropping to 60# limbs and would like to steal a little KE by buying a bow with a little extra spped. I shoot an AMO measured 29" draw and am curious what a guy could get out of an XL at 60 lbs and a 400 gr. shaft. Also, how smooth is the draw on these cams? I am assuming it is a little hash based on the fact they can generate that kind of speed out of a 36 ATA bow with a 8" BH.

    Bowfreaknasty,

I will shoot one tomorrow at the specs you requested and post the results for you.

The XL has the smoothest draw cycle of all the Elite bows, I think they all are reasonably smooth for the speed they produce, oh wait I'm probably biased.

Is this due to a different cam or because of the length?

I think all of the Elite bows are smooth drawing, but maybe I define smooth different than some. They don't have any "bumps" in the draw cycle, nor do they hav a harsh drop off into the valley.

Michael...I couldn't have said it any better. Coming from a Mathews Switchback to a Synergy I felt it was somewhat stiffer but the bow drew straight back to the wall without bumps and the big hump that some bows have when you reach let off. The Trykon and Iron Mace were the worst at this in my opinion. Kevin is just one heck of a bow designer and the Elite's are a great result of his engineering ability.

Getting back to the XL. I think I've resigned myself to realize that I'm not going to get near the speed that my current 07 Synergy's get or the new XT and GTO but I'm diggin the 36" AtA and 8" BH and it will still be plenty fast enough.

The smoother draw cycle comes from the length of the bow, the limb angles are machined about 6-8 degrees different than any other Elite model so the XL has less pre-load, subsequently changing how the limb deflects and stores the energy.

Thank you. As an engineer, I have the utmost respect for Kevin. I tend to analyze things until my brain cramps, then I can't sleep because I am still thinking about it until I arrive at what I think is correct. I am not a "fanboy", so I defend my beliefs on my facts, and my statement was based on my results.

Sometimes I can't pinpoint things I like, but I sure can, and will, tell you what I don't like.

I too am really interested in an XL. To me, if I can shoot my target arrow (325 grains) at my 29" draw with a draw weight in the 60-62lb neighborhood and achieve 300fps...Thats fast enough for me.

Now give me a little more speed and that is a plus,.... Give me 8" of brace height and thats another plus.....This bow looks like a winner.
