No ,Your bow should be around 16 pounds holding weight at 78 % letoff. So set the release at 17 or 18 pounds.
Anyone else use this release for hunting. I have been experimenting with BT and I have really seen my groups improve to the point where I am busting nocks. I don't really have any TP, but I like the improved accuracy and consistency. It does scare you a bit when the release goes off. My first time, I thought that I had missed the target completely, but when I went up, my arrow was in the middle of the little dot. I could not believe it.
Let's say you're at full draw for a long time, 45 seconds plus, and you lose focus while holding for an extended time, and the bow pulls. You immediately return added pressure to your release arm to prevent this. Will it go off?
Also, in a "let down" do you have to re-engage the safety first.
Just pondering.....

If you creep forward or let down as soon as the weight is 1 to 2 pounds heavier it will fire unless the safety is reactivated. If you held for 45 seconds or longer ,you should have already let down.
So you would have to remember to engage safety on a let down. Then disengage upon re-draw. Makes sense. I suppose if practiced it would come naturally.
I have held much longer than 45 and taken game, but it's certainly not preferred.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack. Back to the thread.....

I will say this, I have been shooting Ray Ray's Bernie's Missing Link release and shooting Backtension with it, it is amazing how every time i drew back it corrected my form.....I am addicted to it now.....I will say this gunny, start of at a lower poundage in the 60s, with this release, i am using the muscles that I never thought I had.......
Thanks for the release Ray Ray, both you and Mo were right, this release is the best type of form self correction there is....

Marine Hunter, have you received your Backstrap yet? If so, did you have a chance to set it up & try it out? I feel once you get use to it you will like it.
I just got back from duty this evening, and it was in the mail. I have some honey dues that need to be taken care of and then I may get around to tinkering with it. As soon as I do, I'll let you know. This is one very well made release. Prior to this one, all of my other releases have been caliper releases, and not nearly as well made. I hope this release works as well as it looks/feels.
