    Default Elite or BowTech?

Currently I am shooting a 2006 Mathews Switchback LD. The only thing that I do not like about this bow is that it IBO’s at 295. I am shooting at 70# with a 31 DL. The only thing on the string is a D loop and the peep. With 416 grain arrows I get 267 FPS. I time to move up to the binary cam world.

I am going to be purchasing an Elite Xtreme XL, BowTech 101st Airborne or the GTO if the DL goes to 31.

I mostly hunt and shoot 3D. Accuracy is more important than speed to me but if I can get both that would be wonderful.

I will be able to shoot the BowTech 101st Airborne since several of the local Pro Shops will be stocking them; however, my local Elite dealer is not planning on stocking the Xtreme XL or the GTO’s

Normally I always shoot a bow before I purchase. If I go with Elite I will not be able to shoot it first.

The BowTech 101st and the Xtreme XL are very similar. One feature that I like on the BowTech is the roller guard.

What are the pro’s and cons’s of the Elite Xtreme XL and BowTech 101st Airborne. The specs aren’t out yet so I don’t know if the GTO with handle a 31DL

    Thanks, Joel

One thing I have always heard from "engineers" is that the roller guard can add some undue stress that really dosent have to be there on the limbs on dual cam model bows. On single cams fine, cause there is less limb and cable movement backwards when the bow is drawn. I am a bit skeptic about it.

besides, this should answer what bow you should buy out of the 2, not IBO:

Barnsdale Limbs or Gordon Glass? Its a no brainer

i can tell you one thing right off the bat...

get the elite and you won't have any limb problems

the 8" brace height of the xl should make the the bow pretty dang smooth too-

I don't think anyone can give you the pro's or con's as to either bow, neither one has started shipping, so no one has shot them.

I can tell you that the Xtreme XL has a very smooth draw cycle and aims very well, on the shot the bow just sits in your hand without kicking, jumpimg or vibrating. The longer riser helps in those areas. The Xl uses a 13" limb and a 27.5" riser with only 1.4" of reflex.

The best thing you could do is shoot them both and decide, we might have a dealer in your area by the time they both start shipping so you could compare them.

This might explain why I have heard of roller guard rods bending on the Iron Mace's but I don't know for sure because I'm not an engineer.
