    Default Weight/Speed

I have turned my bow down from 70# to 60#. It was shooting 292fps. at 70# and now shoots 282fps. at 60#. What would I gain ( approx.) in speed if I dropped from a 385gr. arrow to a 355gr. arrow? ( this is out of a Mathews Legacy) 29.5 draw. My current arrow is a Maxima 350. Was going to go to Maxima 250.

I plugged in the numbers and I'm getting 5fps. faster than it shows with a 385gr. arrow.

W/ 308 IBO of the Legacy and specs you listed + 18gr on the string, this site says 291.

I used 18gr on the string to reach your reported 282 W/ 385 gr arrow @ 60 and then the 355 gr change bumps the slider to 291.

You will get back approximately what you lost when going down to 60 lbs.

3 grains usually equals 1 FPS.

I don't come up with the right number either. I also don't get to 282 at 60# and 385 grain arrow. I calculate at 271fps.

To get 290 at 60# with 18 grains of string weight, I calculate you need a 310 grain arrow, still above 5 grain limit, but still light.

Am I doing the calculation wrong?

I thought you get back what you lost when going down to 60lbs by dropping 50 grains off a 350 grain arrow down to 300 grain. Wouldn't he have to take more off from 385 than just 30 grains to get close to the same speed?
