How do you knurl the insert & keep the OD/ID of the insert concentric? Do you install the field point then use a lathe with a knurling tool?

How do you knurl the insert & keep the OD/ID of the insert concentric? Do you install the field point then use a lathe with a knurling tool?
As noted above, proper & thorough cleaning is the key. I like to use a brass gun barrel brush & 91% Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). You could also use soap & water between the brush & alcohol,...
I've use lighter fluid, as in charcoal lighter fluid, with great success to remove residual adhesive, especially from various tapes. Try it, can't hurt, & you might just find a new tool to use in the...
Interesting & great idea!
Thanks, I should have thought of that.
Besides looking for the seam on the inside of the shaft, is there another easy way to determine where the stiffest line of the shaft is, particularly after the arrow has been made up?
This really puts the situation in proper perspective!

The network media has been almost totally saturated with ridiculous, outrageous propaganda for Obama in an obvious saturation ploy to overwhelm the voters, attempting to portray Obama as what he...
I totally agree, especially after getting the same answer from Dick, the tech guru at Elite.
What I would be more concerned with is timing the rest correctly and then timing the cams so the...
I've used the Easton N-Fused Axis for the last couple years & really like them. Very durable, small dia for good penetration & reduced wind deflection, & they shoot very well with Blazers.
Have you confirmed the proper timing of your rest?
If you have trouble finding the Elite posts, you could make your own using conventional hdw & tubing.
When using your draw board to check the DL, are you bringing the cam/modules/posts to where they are "just barely" timed to be at the correct full draw rotation and not over-rotated? If you...
Way to go! Beautiful buck. Great way to tell the tale. You have story telling talent. Why not use it more professionally?
Be sure to adjust both limbs exactly the same.
Just a bit of reference info regarding which limbs go where on Elite bows, as told to me by Dick at Elite Archery:
Place the bow on a table with the shelf side down. You should be able to read the...
You guys are providing some realy good information & recommendations. I now have a nice list of releases to check out. I can see this is going to be a difficult choice, some of which I didn't...
I'm looking for a wrist release that has the following features:
Hook jaw - not calipers.
360° swivel head
Adjustable trigger pull - prefer a light trigger
Short trigger pull
Secure,...
You're absolutely right! I fully expect to make further adjustments when bare shaft & BH tuning, but knowing now that the bow is properly assembled gives me a sense of confidence going forward that...
Swapped the 50lb limbs, top to bottom & bottom to top,
Noticed that the string was further to the left (rest side) than before,
Re-set the centershot.
Confirmed the cam sync & all other specs,...
I just talked with Dick at Elite & from this I determined that I had installed the new 50lb limbs in reverse top to bottom. I'll swap the limbs & see what happens. Thanks Dick!
Well, it wasn't the launcher arm. So far I've done everything I can think of, plus have tried suggestions from others, including really focussing on a relaxed form & a torque free grip. The best I...
Tonight I discovered quite by accident that the launche arm on my rest had loose screws attaching it to the bar. Hadn't noticed that before. Maybe/hopefully this is the culprit behind the problem???
Unfortunately that is the only rest I have.
By the way I checked your Profile & noticed that you are an Engineer & a charter boat Captain. Both great professions! My background was manufacturing...
Summary of tune:
The bow is actually set up as best as I can tune it. I'm confident it's set up correctly (except for center shot). The cams are synced absolutely perfect, couldn't be better - same...
I'm looking for suggestions.
Please keep in mind that this bow (2010 Elite GT500) originally had 60lb limbs on it. I changed to 50lb limbs because I'm getting older (70) and am affected...
