I have taken about 10 elk over the years. I have used thunderheads 125's and then 100's for about 8 of them and have been using striker 100's for the past few years..

you could use the Gold Tip ul 400's they are very strong and have killed 2 elk for me. with 100 gr tips and 27" you would be about 330 grs.
